Over 3000 cities around the globe had switched off for 1hr, in conjunction with Earth Hour 2009. However, a researcher said that the symbolism of lighting candle emits more carbon than electric lights. Meanwhile, he was amazed by the number of participants this year, as this is a referendum between Earth and global warming.
Many landmarks were also in dark, such as the Sydney Opera House, Petronas Twin Towers, Victoria Harbour, Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids of Egypt, and many others. On our local front, there was 'A Party 4 Us' @ Sutera Biru Hotel, KB for SMSA Pre-U students. During the Earth Hour, they were having candlelight dinner. Pretty romatic yeah, especially yg bercouple suka tu!
On the number of unofficial participation, on the Earth Hour Brunei facebook group, there were 79 participants, with more than 60+ pending for approval. Thanks to Kristal FM and DJ Dean for spreading the message yesterday night. On some other places, things became a little aggresive. In London, the protesters were raiding premises which didn't participate in it.
