The Perfect Song for ...

Hi people, guess all of us (including me) have been anticipating when the results will be released, as there are too much rumours flying around in Facebook & Twitter over the last few days. Since, nobody is trying to clear the air, rumours will be continue to be flying everywhere. For your info, before releasing the result in Singapore, the SEAB will announce in the newspapers when the result will be out. Why cant Exam Dept of Brunei do the same? Its better than letting the candidates to play 'guessing game' and cause everyone to be in a 'state of suspense'. Right, I do not know the exact date of release for this year, but Mathematically according to last year result release date, Im expecting this year it should be out 1 February 2010 (tomorrow).
 THE Perfect Song
Right, I think I have overrun by quite a bit so I shall start the main agenda of this posting: THE Perfect Song for certain occasion. The song choices are selected from English, Chinese, Malay & Korean & Thai songs that I know. You may have your own list of different songs as each of us have our own taste of music. So listed below are my choice of the perfect song for ...
The Perfect Song for apologizing : Sorry Sorry by Super Junior
The Perfect Song for thinking about the month of January: Januari by Glenn
The Perfect Song for birthday: Happy Birthday by The Click 5
The Perfect Song for thinking what the future will looks like: Year 3000 by Busted
The Perfect Song for thinking about classmate: Tong Ban Tong Xue (Classmate) by Golf & Mike
The Perfect Song for feeling regret: Tong Yi Ge Yi Han (The Same Regret) by Blue J Ji Jia Song
The Perfect Song for waiting for something/somebody (eg the results): Heartbeat by 2PM
The Perfect Song if you think you want to dance: Just Dance by Lady Gaga
The Perfect Song for lover: Xiao Kuai2 by Evan Yo (Xiao Kuai2 is a unofficial substitute word to say honey/sayang)
The Perfect Song for lonely people: Ji Mo Hao Le (Loneliness No More) by Evan Yo
Lastly, The Perfect Song for CNY 2010 Year Of Tiger: Da Ri Ji (An Auspicious Day) by MY ASTRO team
Thats about it people for The Perfect Song, I hope that with this posting it will inspire you to make your own 'The Perfect song' list of your own, like what someone had done when they had read about 'the list' posting. Hey Mizi, if you want to copy&paste you are welcome to do so.
Meanwhile, its a Sunday today so tomorrow if the result is not coming out, I am going for a shouting spree after listening to Na Han (Shout) by Chen Jia Kai.
Till the day result comes, have a nice day people & be inspired.

State of suspense

This is my 130th posting, horray

‘State of suspense’ for Brunei students

While students in UK, Malaysia, Pakistan & other centres which had given their candidates the login ID for My Results website (CIE Direct) had already known their results, a few thousands more in Brunei are being kept in the state of suspense by the local Examination Department.
Quoting a reply from Ministry of Education in the Weekend Bulletin 2nd January 2010 regarding publishing results on a website; it stated that MOE will release student’s results via their personal email in the near future. The main concern here is what is near future definition for MOE? Is it November 2009 examination session results or June 2010 examination session results? This creates further suspense among the students.
MOE had previously introduced SMS results service starting from November 2008 examination session results, till it was criticised in the letters to the editor section of Borneo Bulletin. It was said that ‘SMS results was a money making scheme of mobile providers’. As of tonight, there is still no news on the SMS result service for November 2009 examination session results, so I am assuming that there is NONE. Usually, registration will be open roughly a week before the day result is out, but till today there is still no news about it. Few of my friends & classmates were asking me about the SMS result service just now, as they were eager to subscribe to it as it will enable them to know their results earlier.
As I move into social networking sites like Facebook & Twitter today, buzz was in the air about results. One tweet by someone which sounds like ‘My relative knows my result but he/she won’t tell me’. Another tweet which proclaims ‘RESULT OUT” turns out to be a FALSE ALARM for students in Brunei. One tweet from someone which sounds like ‘I called the school clerk & she said result haven’t out yet’ cleared the air & reduces the anxiety. However, another tweet that says ‘Result keluar esok?’ really will increase the anxiety come tomorrow morning. I say we relax 1st then we continue to be in a ‘state of suspense’ tomorrow as this blog post is published tomorrow. So people have a good night rest before start scouring blogs, Facebook, Twitter, websites & another round of Result keluar tomorrow.
Lastly, CIE had advised students to not ask from them the results as they are unable to tell but instead go to your local center. CIE had done students around the world a lot of favour by introducing CIE Direct (myresults.cie.org.uk) to let the students know their results as soon as it’s released by CIE on the stated website. However there is a catch, you must have user id & password provided by the center otherwise NO PASSWORD NO RESULT. Hence, places like Mauritius & Brunei can’t get their results earlier or it’s EMBARGO TILL RELEASED OFFICIALLY.
Anxiety is in the air, pressures are building, clock is ticking for Brunei students as well as Exam Dept as it continues to be a ‘guessing game’ when results will be out & how to get it?

Of ayam,trees & Empire

Hi people its weekend and according to rumours flying around, results is going to be out next week. Quoting CIE website, its going to be releasing it on 25 Jan! Brunei its playing guessing game of dates! By the way, Im blogging from Empire Hotel as Im spending my weekend in Empire for the 1st time since it opened. *outdated kan ku ni*
While I was on my way to Empire, suddenly in Telesai after the petrol station, the car abruptly comes to a stop. This is because kereta didepan tak berganjak. Since the jam very the long so many cars that yg plan nak ke Bandar U-turn! After like 1hr then the car reached the accident area i.e. after jambatan Sg Telamba. Then, I saw  lori membawa ayam ditepi. Guess that lori ayam accident kot? Good thing there is no ayam in the lori if not chicken run in Telamba! haha or kenduri ayam FREE la orang yg lalu!
Then, after passing the accident area, nak masuk highway Telesai the jam were very long (going to KB)! After entering the highway, smooth journey till Jerudong then saw police so every1 think its speed trap so slow down, but actually its polis asking to detour to masuk Jerudong pantai beli ikan LOL, no just detour then enter bk Tutong Muara highway. Rupanya POKOK TUMBANG! haih such a short detour but it has to be done in the name of safety. Right enough of chicken & tree talk!
Empire Review
Room was spacious
Freebies banyak haha thanks (I love collecting hotel freebies)
TV was a bit old-fashioned like my one in rumah di Labuan. Many new hotels have LCD TV already lah
Environment-friendly wise BAGUS full stop
View from room no komen (seaview but near cliff macam tu)
Facilities WiFi is a must for me & Empire scored 8 out of 10 (lag sikit la but faster than my broadband mobile)
Lastly, congrats to all winners of tonight MY ASTRO Music Awards especially Evan Yo with its Ji Mo Hao Le song getting one of the top 20 gold awards & Blue J Ji Jia Song (my fav artist) for getting best male newcomer award. Breaking now-Khalil Fong is big winner
Reviews - Newcomers like Lala, Thomas Jack, Juztin Lau got quite a lot of awards
Lastly Happy Saturday people enjoy the rest of the nite, Im off for now want to continue hearing My Astro awards online courtesy of Empire's wifi & cant watch it because Empire tak de AEC channel
Note: This posting is full of unstandard words that are not suitable to be used in exams & official affairs.

The List

Hi people, so hows your life? I guess you will be rushing here&there filling forms, taking tests, making personal statements, etc. By the way results is just around the corner so be prepared for the worst!
Today, Im so not in the 'pink of health' so its just gonna be a short post. I will try to post up more in this couple of days.
Today, I was reading the book that I had bought in Times Suria Sabah on the day 'The Calendar' occured. The book is a motivational book named Chicken Soup for the Souls My Resolutions. I was reading 1 chapter on The List about how a person was advised by her grandma to write up a list of things that the person had accomplished. After reading this chapter, I was moved to start The List of my own (Im not bragging about my achievements, so if you think Im 'angkat bakul', let it be). Here goes my list
The Achievement for Education
  1. Passed PSR
  2. Passed PMB
  3. Passed O Level in Science class
  4. Passed AS Level with quite a good grade (2A,1B)
  5. Completed Pre-U
Place That I Have Step My Foot Onto
  1. Malaysia (tanah airku)
  2. Brunei (my 2nd home)
  3. Singapore
  4. Thailand
  5. Australia
  6. Taiwan
ECA Achievements
  1. Kuiz Kenali Tanahairku 2nd place
  2. Won a number of prizes from radio quizzes
Other things to note I have:
  1.  Facebook
  2. Twitter
  3. Friendster
  4. Plurk
  5. Wozai
  6. Blog (chatlepak.blogspot.com)
  7. Nuffnang
  8. Organised a number of trips successfully
I think my achievements are nothing much to shout about compared to certain people ones who could proudly tell that they had set foot to Big Ben & Statue of Liberty, etc. Some could brag about the good academic results, etc.
Lastly, I would like to express condolences to the family of 1 teacher & 5 students who were involved in the dragon boat tragedy in Penang on Sunday. Its really sad to see these events occuring again & again even though it can be prevented. I remembered it happened once in 2007 to the Singapore dragon boat team. Its not the time to point fingers on who is at fault, but we need to find ways to prevent these things from occuring again. One of the parents of the 5 students said that 'His son wanted to be a designer & had even learnt German language since he wanted to further studies in Germany', now everything is GONE!
Again lets have a moment of silence to remember those who have perished in the tragedy!
Alright people, before I close this posting we shall end with a quote
He is a wise man who doesnt grieve for the things which he hasnt, but rejoices for those which he has. - Epictetus
Bye!
P.S. This blogger thinks that people should meditate to keep their minds calm in respect of so many things that had occured over the wk & the weeks to come

Surprises, surprises & more surprises

Helo people, we have just entered the 1st 13 days of 2010, however too much surprises (events) have occurred in Brunei & elsewhere. Some things that we do not expect happened due to God's will, while some due to somebody saying the wrong words, while some due to commercial reasons, and more.
Surprise no 1: Kristal Astro pull the plug on Media Prima channels starting 1 Jan 2010 midnite (TV3, NTV7, 8TV, TV9)
While I was on holiday aka visiting relatives in KK, a few wks ago, I still catch up on the news in Brunei thanks to my cousin free TM Streamyx wireless & Ignatius Stephen Brudirect.com. 1 day, while I was scrolling down for news in Brudirect, then I saw the headline TV3, 8TV, NTV7, TV9 to go off Astro, so I click on the headline to get more details. I thought it was a New Yr joke but apparently ITS NOT! Some of the voices of the parties involved on this issue
Kristal Astro Sdn Bhd press statement (quoted from Borneo Bulletin): The cease of broadcast is due to unforeseen circumstances. Kristal Astro will use its best endeavour (sedaya upaya) to resolve this matter with the relevant parties & apologised for any inconvenience caused
Subscribers of Kristal Astro voice via letters to the editor in Borneo Bulletin & The Brunei Times: Reduce subscription fees
Paul Moss, Director Network Media Portal Media Prima: Kristal Astro didn't have the rights to show the 4 channels (my Twitter frustration tweet was replied)
My say: Well Brunei people still can enjoy TV3 via aerial wah, plus our 'slow or fast' broadband can see some of the TV program via tv3.com.my, ntv7.com.my, 8tv.com.my, tv9.com.my! My suggestion to Kristal Astro 'While Kristal Astro is 'sedaya upaya' settling the isu with relevant parties, untuk mengurangkan kemarahan pelanggan adalah disarankan supaya menurunkan kadar bayaran Kristal Astro ke kadar yg lebih munasabah sejajar dengan kehilangan 4 saluran. Bila dah selesai & 4 saluran tu tak hilang lagi baru naik kembali ke kadar asal' Ok tak idea ni? Tak kisahlah lima kupang ke satu ringgit asal turun bolehlah! 'Mami mami minta balik 4 saluran'
Khabar2 angin yg boleh percaya kah inda?: Mau kena caj bah 4 channels ni, lima kupang kali?

Surprise No 2: Church arson in Malaysia & stone hurled at Sikh temple
As some people say, a stroke of a pen could change everything, & so does a wrong choice of word could change the whole situation! Kata pepatah:Terlajak perahu boleh berundur terlajak kata tak boleh ditarik balik atau dinafikan
Apparently due to a certain people saying the wrong word, then on the next day denying that they had said it even though it was reported widely in the media, had caused the event to occur. Thank god its reported that the person had regretted that he had said that word. In these sensitive times, its not proper for me to offer any comments that could be misinterpreted by certain parties & may add more fuel to the fire to the battered situation. I really respect the stand of Malaysian Mirror for censoring comments that may add fuel to the fire, even those the words of PM & TPM. And even, the comments by opposition lawmakers . This may be seen as a biased reaction, but I see it as a responsible act by the online media such as Malaysian Mirror. Good job keep it up! While the pesalah of the church arson had yet to be caught, The Malaysian Insider had just reported that polis had identified the pesalah. I say put the pictures of the pesalah in newspapers, let the pesalah knows that he/she is wanted by PDRM, let him/her repent/bertaubat by 'menyerah diri' sendiri to the nearest police station or go to Kamunting sendiri. Tak payah susahkan PDRM, PDRM ada banyak kes lain yg perlu diselesaikan! Malaysia is a multiracial country, we cant let these people to cause so much damage to our multiracial stature! Apparently according to Home Minister, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein things are calming down which is a good thing.
Surprise No 3: 7.0 magnitude earthquake strikes Haiti
Today Haiti was struck by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake which was the strongest earthquake since the last major earthquake that had struck Haiti 20 yrs ago. Haiti was the poorest countries among all the countries in the Northern hemisphere. It had a population of about  10 million. The earthquake that had struck Haiti capital, Port-au-Prince this morning had damaged most of the capital major buildings including National Palace, Commerce Ministry building, UN building, etc including communication links. Good thing internet service is still available thus Haitians were able to post updates on Facebook & Twitter which was widely used by CNN in its breaking news coverage of the earthquake. It is feared that many many lives will be lost it could even be in the region of thousands. Wyclef Jean, pledged the people to offer IMMEDIATE AID. I am sure we at Brunei will help whatever we can to help the Haitians. So, lets have a moment of silence before moving to another surprise story.
Surprise No 4: GRAD Nite 2010
This is the last story for this posting, sorry if this posting is too heavy for you to read. I would never expect that 1 day I would be co-managing a party. This idea of Grad Nite came after reading so much comments on MV Nite, I thought since we are about to graduate from Pre-U why not we have a party to celebrate it. So I formed a group named Party Liaison Team to organise this Grad Nite. I know that people had expectation that this Grad Nite would be better than MV Nite so the team have to work very hard to make it work. Plus, 1 new idea that I have thought about is M-Ticket. Why need to print paper, since every1 is talking about global warming. Since COP15 is habuk pun tadak, we as the inhabitants of the world can also contribute in reducing global warming by using less paper so came the idea of M-Ticket. What is M-Ticket? Ticket via SMS! Right stop membebel go to main info on Grad Nite
Date: 6th March 2010 (Malam Minggu Saturday Nite) (to be confirmed but high chances)
Theme: Retro Nite or ZO

And lastly have FUN!

Alright people I hope you enjoy reading this posting as I enjoyed typing the posting too! Till next wk, Surprises is always around us you never know when 1 will pops up like the pop-up ads in websites. That pop-up you can block but surprises in life you can block, SO FACE IT! Tata & selamat bermuakafat

Welcome 2010, KK Trip & more

This is it here it comes and poof hello 2010, sayonara 2009! 1st of all the blogger of this blog, ahem dats me The Cool as Ice Blogger & this blog My Life, My Expression would like to wish our readers, advertisers (kononnya), partners (Nuffnang, because I’m a member of Nuffnang) & everyone a happy & safe 2010. May 2010 is a better year for us, the bloggers around the world to express our thots without fear & repression. I better start blogging about my experience in KK & other stories, before my creativity juice runs dry. I will try to keep it sweet & simple but also comprehensive in certain parts. Here goes
Day 1 (Xmas Day)
On a Friday afternoon, Brunei Airport was so quiet as usual, so I went around the departure hall snapping pictures. Flight to KK by Air Asia was normal, & I had to say on this flight the pilot’s announcement was kinda amusing. There was also Music on Air radio station minus the DJ onboard to entertain the passengers. ‘Thank you for making us the World Best Low Cost Carrier’ LOL!
Day 2 (26th December 2009)
At noon time, went to City Mall to shop for stuffs for the party tonite. The party was to celebrate ‘party pindah rumah & baby cukup umur 1 tahun’. Lots of outsiders were present, so I stay within my circle of relatives.
Day 3 (27th December 2009)
Yahoo! 1Borneo is the place that I went today. The actual plan was to shop only inside Parkson but instead I & my cousins wondered around ‘window shopped’ at shops like Esprit (like 1 T-shirt on offer RM49.90, but can't buy tak cukup duit hehe), Tropicana Life (also like T-shirts from here but its far too costly RM51.90). My cousins bought shirts from FOS & Baleno, while I just got some half-priced items from Parkson haha cheapo me! I wanted to watch movie at 1Borneo but when we reached the cinema OMG so….so long the queue, so change plan balik rumah main computer/YouTube since there is free wireless courtesy of my cousin .
Day 4 28th Dec 09 (Scene Minta Kalendar @ Suria Sabah)
After breakfast, went shopping @ Suria Sabah. For those who have no idea where is it & what is inside there let me give you an insight. It’s just beside Wisma Merdeka, near Standard Chartered. Some of the shops in here are Metrojaya (a big department store from KL, just landed in Land below the Bayu), VOIR Gallery (inside got sell many brands like SODA, VOIR, G&H, Diadora, etc), Times the Bookshop, Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa (eh kenapa awal jual abis nasi lemak itu bah aku mau makan bah), Converse, etc. The mall was so sunyi since it was not fully opened yet. 1st let me tell you what I buy here in VOIR Gallery, I bought a half-priced T-shirt & a jeans shirt. I got a free watch worth RM79.90 for spending more than RM200.
Now comes the interesting part, MINTA KALENDAR! This happens in Times Bookshop Suria Sabah. There was a man (definitely not me, I wouldn’t make a big trouble like this just because I wanted a FREE calendar) who was paying his purchase just before me. He purchased more than RM100 which entitles him to get a bag, however the cashier told him finish already thus offered him a notebook as well as give a discount. The man later asked for a calendar & the cashier pointed to a section of the shop. Now, the FUN starts right here!
Man: Aiyoh yoh no FREE calendar
Cashier Man: We don’t give FREE calendar
My cousin: Maybe after Chinese New Year (my cousin interrupts the man)
Man: B******t la, so late already. Everyone before a new year already give calendar. Why this Times no good one, I want to see your Manager! Where is your manager? I don’t want to speak to you the low ranking worker.
Man: If Times got print calendar, helps to promote the bookstore. Right?
Me & my cousin just smiles
Man: See they also agree
Man: The book not many one here
Cashier Lady: This is because we just opened
Man: Eh dey Times Bookshop Warisan Square already open 2 years still the same. I want a book they say tak ada tak ada
Cashier Lady: You can order but slower
Man: In KL Times I want a book they say wait Sir I will find for you
Cashier Lady: Sabah not advanced like Peninsular Malaysia
Man: See MPH also doesn’t have in Sabah, only Popular & Times. The Times here not same like Times in Semenanjung
Both cashiers just smiled
Man: The Popular here is for PRIMARY kids. The Popular in Singapore is BEST IN ASIA 4 STOREYS!
Ok, after this heated conversation finally the man willing to give up pay & lari! After that then it’s my turn to be served, it was a good thing that the cashiers didn’t say bad things about that customer after he leaves. My cousin says ‘Bukan orang Sabah barangkali dia tu, kalau orang tidak mau kasi kalendar buat apa minta2 kalau ada ambillah kalau tiada diam2 sajalah’. I really salute the cashiers act like macam nothing happened. Times Bookshop I suggest you give your cashiers a reward for dapat tahan dengan perangai orang tu, kalau aku cashier tu aku debate sama dia! As for that man, I say ‘yes we in Borneo Island including Sabah & Brunei do not live in trees anymore, but we are not as advanced like Semenanjung, so please be patient’ Lunch was at Kenny Rogers Roasters, I remembered few years back Brunei had a Kenny Rogers in Kiulap but it had to close down, too bad! 4 storey Popular havent heard about it yet? Is the man making up stories?

Day 5 29th December 2009 - Boys Day Out
Today, I went out with my cousins by bus. It was quite easy though getting to the city by bus. The issue is crossing the busy 4-lane Coastal Highway (Lebuhraya Pantai Baru KK whatever the translation) in front of Plaza Wawasan from Terminal Wawasan (bus station). Good thing DBKK pandai berfikir & put a zebra crossing with pejalan kaki traffic light to ease crossing kalau tidak hmm tak dapat saya bayangkan berapa kemalangan yg akan berlaku! First, we went to Plaza Wawasan browsing the gerai2 as 2 orang cousin saya tu nak belikan sesuatu to their Xiao Kuaikuai or girlfriend. Cari punya cari tak de, depa tak jual! In the middle of wondering around, ternampak pula orang yg macam aku kenal hmm siapa dia? After Wawasan, we make our way to Centrepoint. Otw to Centrepoint, we passed by Api2 Centre & saw shop named Korea Mart. Di depan kedai itu, ada SS501 big poster. Then jalan-jalan reach McD & teringat aku Zahrah hi Reef. At Centrepoint, we shopped around for baju tahun baru for my cousins as well as me trying to find 3/4 pants. What happen to me? *sobbing* Waaa, I cant find suitable size! Iatah terlalu small waist haha! While at Centrepoint, again my cousin yg 2 orang tu continue to cari gifts for their girlfriend. For lunch we had drinks from YOYO Cafe which according to my cousins telah turun dia punya kualiti but according to Hafiz Ismail its nyaman. Whatever it is it depends on your taste right? Lunch was at McD, and as usual McD was packed! I wonder how come everywhere McD penuh 1? Its more costly than KFC but many people still go to McD! After lunch, my cousins wanted to sing at KBox so we went up there to check what songs were available to bad at that time only 'dangdut' songs were available. There is no I want nobody nobody but you or the moon represent my love. So balik rumah!

Day 6  BBQ Nite 30th December 2009
Tonite, we had a BBQ Nite courtesy of my uncle. There were wine & other drinks. I wanted to try the wine since Im legal already but kena halang. We had fun 'playing' with food, as we are in-charge of d BBQ work.

Day 7 People from Lion City came  31st December 2009
Today, is the last day of my stay in KK. For breakfast I went to Kuo Man Restaurant near Esso petrol station (dah tutup). This place is popular for its fish dumpling. I would recommend you to try this restaurant if you go to KK, but only for non-Muslims. Meanwhile, for Muslims you can check out the Chinese Muslim Paradise 2 shops away! Bon Appetit! At night, my cousin uncle family from Singapore drop-by for dinner. Over the dinner, we had an interesting chat about difference of Brunei & Singapore education system, as well as PR application in Brunei.

Day 8 Mengayau Sabah Jumpa Lagi Tahun 2010, Auk Miri Kita Datang Lagi 1 Jan 2010
Cis, no thanks to Air Asia retiming of flight I got to wake up at 4am! Our flight depart from LCCT KK 7.30am and reached Miri just on time. At Miri, went shopping a bit at Parkson & Boulevard then balik Seria. I would say this trip brings a lot of surprises to me especially the 'minta kalendar' issue. Plus, not forgetting Sabah is Asia's Solar Powered Theme Park with lotsa surprises awaits those willing to travel to the Land Below The Wind. Terima Kasih Sabah Jumpa Lagi Tahun 2010 bila aku bawa kawan2 aku dari Singapore/Australia/mana2 aje (depend on where I will further my studies) untuk mendaki Gunung Kinabalu kot!

Thank you people for reading my KK adventure. In a couple of wks , I will be going for a long trip to Singapore Lion City, politically tsunami affected Tanah Malaya & Siam sawasdeekap! Then, there will be more stories to be told!
Till then, Surprises surprises people. Happy life up your life to your fullest! Adios & selamat
