1st blogaversary & Dumpling Festival

Selamat Hari Jadi to chatlepak.blogspot.com. Ulang tahun pertama aku start blogging. LOL!
Today, the 28th of May 2009 or in Chinese Lunar calendar the 5th day in the 5th month, we celebrate Dumpling Festival/Duan Wu Jie. Yeah, makan kuih 'bak chang, 'kee chang, etc. And not forgetting, mandi di pantai! Its not just about that, there is story behind that tradition of makan 'chang' & mandi di pantai. Once upon a time .....
Duan Wu Jie is a widely celebrated festival amongst the Chinese, to pay respect to the patriotic poet, Qu Yuan (pronounced as Chue Yuan). The legend involves a really long and complicated throne-fighting war and political history. But to make a long story short: Qu Yuan was an important minister back in Chu Kingdom in ancient China. He had been known for his loyalty for the emperor of Chu, and loved his country greatly. However, His Majesty had not taken Qu Yuan's advice seriously, and he eventually got himself trapped and captured in a foreign land by his enemies, which then lead to his own death.
Sad and angry at the corrupted, dying Kingdom, Qu Yuan tied himself to a big rock and threw himself into the River of Puo Luo. The people then made rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves and threw them into the river. They believed this would stop the fish from eating Qu Yuan's body. Some would even row down stream in a boat, beating drums and shouting out loud in the hope to scare the fish away (it was believed that it is how the Dragon Boat event is related to the festival. Since then, the 5th day of the 5th month in the Chinese calendar has been set as Duan Wu Festival to remember the incident. Although there were versions of legends and stories that indicate Duan Wu has existed way before Qu Yuan's death, the tradition still carries on. The rice dumplings (ZongZi) are glutinous rice (or sticky rice in some countries like Thailand and Hong Kong) wrapped in bamboo leaves, or other large leaves (lotus is one of the more commonly used leaves). You can find all sorts of different fillings in the rice: pork, roast pork, chestnut, egg, salted egg, mushroom, red bean, or just simply without filling. They could be just white rice dumpling (not pre-fried), or brown (pre-fried with soya sauce). Nowadays, you can buy Zongzi almost everyday of the year, in restaurants or hawker stores in most oriental countries such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore, and other Asian countries where many Chinese reside.
Ok, close Duan Wu Jie story, later if I start to go deeper, people would be hungry drolling for their dinner or 'chang'!
the melody of a slow song is playing, a sombre mood is on the air! weeping
Parents Alert: Students beware, this Saturday between 2-4pm, the prosecutors (parents) and the judge (teachers) will decide whether you all will be sentenced or freed of all charges. ops, I am too over!
Another of my ex-teacher is leaving Brunei, Miss Maria (F5 class teacher & Biology teacher). Angie will be coordinating a surprise party for her next Sunday @ Ideal OGDC. I have been appointed her assistant. Wonder why, I am always involved in event organising? Could it be my future job as event manager bringing in artists like Britney or Super Junior to Brunei? We will see how it goes! On that day too, they planned to celebrate Mr Leo's birthday which falls on the next day i.e. 8th June. Her favourite quote to me is "Drawing again ah Teo". Yeah, my drawing sucks big time, so I guess thats why my Bio O Level is a barely pass (D) or its because my Paper 2. Anyway, thanks teacher for keeping on pushing me to improve my Bio, otherwise I wouldn't have passed my Bio O Level. Drawing, labelling, define, ........ ADH
AS Update
Accounting 2: I dont know what to say, even the Accounting tutors who were waiting outside the examination hall seems to be stunted by the actions of Cambridge to try to dethrone Brunei students as one of the best performer in Cambridge International Examinations. Well, I tell you Cambridge, I am not going to be fooled by your past tricks even though I am not optimistic.
This November however, we the students of Brunei will give you a hard time marking our A Level answer scripts as in excellent answers & as well as a run for our $200-400 hard cold cash. Right, Brunei students we can do it! Together, we can shock Cambridge and claim all the top honours in the world: Top in Maths, GP, Accounting, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Biz Studies, Economics, Geography.
Ok, that about it for now, it has been a tiring day, will try to chill a bit 2mrw. Bye!

245 my 18th birthday

On the 24th of May 1991, somewhere in KK, a hyperactive kid was born. Why hyperactive? According to Chinese beliefs, when a woman is pregnant, the husband cant do anything to their house especially the 'pintu besar', if they want their child to live a good life in the future. My father, on the other hand went on with his plan to change the 'pintu besar' of our house. As a result, faham2 ajelah! Over these years, this kid has grown with leaps & bounds to be one of the 400 PreU2 students in SMSA. Who am I talking about? Me of course
1st of all, syukur kepada Tuhan Maha Pencipta kerana memanjangkan umur saya dan membolehkan saya untuk terus mencoret cerita yang tak berguna langsung di dalam blog saya yang tak seberapa ini!
2ndly THANK YOU DAUN KELADI to all who have wished me via Facebook, SMS & personally. Here I would like to thank: (macam Academy Award speech pula!) according to alphabetical order
1. Ambrose Chong (GP mate)
2. Amizi Rosman (I am Miji's stalker since 2009 orientation)
3. Angie Liong (ex F4/F5 Sc mate)
4. Bazilah (Biz Studies & Accounting mate)
5. Birthday Alarm
6. Eric Lu (Biz Studies mate)
7. Fizah Ali
8. Hafiz Ismail (Maths mate yang duduk di depan)
9. Haji Djim Said (ex classmate few years back)
10.Harith Rahman (A friend)
11.Hazwani
12.Ivy Then (Registration, GP & Accounting mate)
13.Khairul (ex Accounting mate)
14.Kok Ting
15.Michelle Chong
16.Peter Kong (a friend)
17.Rabani (Dr Rabbit evil best friend)
18.Ridhwan Rahman (ex classmate)
19.Saroja (Biz Studies, Accounting & GP mate)
20.Sony Ericsson
As well as set 2 GP & set 3 Accounting and also Shely Lee (registration & Biz Studies mate), Magnescia (ex F4/F5 Sc classmate), Jason Martine (ex-classmate since Form 1 or 2 or Primary, I dont remember) & Tubely

Oh, love the cake! So nice! But nice to see, cant eat because its considered sold! Huh?

Extra class, GP presentation & a couple of birthday wishes

Its a picnic not a class! Today, set 2, 3, 5 Accounting combined to have revision class for AS, which is on this Monday, 25th May (Paper 2) & Paper 1 on 2nd June. Thanks to our sponsors, Miss Tan (Accounting tutor), set 2 students & me, we have a feast of chocolates, crisps, biscuits, candies, Apollo & 'cockroach egg' (huh!) when we were having our short break just now.
Ok, yesterday my group had just completed our GP presentation on Current Medical Issues. Oh yeah, some of the comments that had been given to me were:energetic, need more eye contact, look nervous, good, ......... I guess set 2 GP were influenced by our 'death number guessing game' which offers prizes such as Cadbury Krunchie, MM's chocolate, etc. Anyway, nobody went home empty handed as I distributed chocolates to them. Everyone was happy to 'gain more calories' and added 'waist size'. Haha!
24th of May is Brunei's national Energy Saving Day which so co-incidentally is also my birthday! 6,000 individuals have pledged to save electricity on that day, so I guess I should also 'GO GREEN' on my birthday, its more meaningful. People say don't remember too much numbers especially your own birthday, otherwise you will become older faster, but turning 18 must be remembered because its important. Every birthday boy got his own wishes so, I got mine too pretty long, and hopefully it can be a reality. Oh yes, most importantly thank god for all the blessings that He had given to me & all the challenges he have created in my life. My I have a good health & live a long life!
Teo Wishes for:
1. i Family as in iPod Touch & iPhone 3G Why? With iPod Touch, I can access internet via wi-fi/wireless without carrying the big laptop. iPhone 3G because its a craze now
2. Nokia family as in Nokia 5800 Comes with Music Why? If ada 'comes with music', I can legally download loads of songs to my mobile for FREE for 6 months, then you gotta pay. Better than nothing! Tapi, what is sold in Brunei, is only Xpress Music series. Di Singapore baru ada. 1 more, my phone is getting 'usang 12' already!
3. Uniqlo UT Why? Because its lawa and cheap, too bad not available in Brunei. Where in the world would you get B$15-25 T-shirt designed by a world-reknowned designer, only Uniqlo have it!
4. Pull & Bear XD T-shirt Why? Because its lawa and wordingnya unique
5. NUMTees Why? wordingnya creative for example I am a womanizer, I am not gay & straight but just shameless, many more (I wont wear with those wording because its too provocative & sensititive)
6. Credit transfer Why? Selalu low creditku, I think many students also experience these problems if you go on9 too much, tweeting excessively, YouTubeing, facebooking!
7. Straight 'A's in AS as well as A Level Why? So that I can enter NUS, because its tough to enter that university! Um, I dont think I can achieve that, but teacher say 'there may be miracles'
8. Greeting from all my friends, contacts, relatives in Facebook especially you Dr Rabbit haha!
9. My favourite magazine: Remix/Galaxie
10. Unlimited broadband Why? So that I can play Restaurant City, Pet Society, download loads of songs, see all the pdf files that I want to without limit!
Ah, abis udah banyak jua wish anak ani, I do not expect all of my wish to be reality but at least some of them like credit transfer which I may get from my father, birthday greetings from friends. Ah, about getting A's that will depend 50% on my effort and 50% on Cambridge examiners who maybe having a lot of headache marking my Biz Studies 1 & Maths P1, P4 papers right now! About mobile phone & T-shirts that will be largely a game of chance should my father goes to Singapore for his course soon!
Bah, thats it another update on 245 on Sunday. Bye
Age of 18 a transition period from a child into an adult
P.S. The most treasured gift that I have got this year, 2009 is my 'red&white wristband'. After I got that last February, my study performance have improved with exception of Maths. It could be my 'lucky charm' or it could just be luck that my marks improve but AS/A Level my marks crashed like hell. Kaluk saja tu

Time

What shall I do now? Time is so precious & yet Im not in a mood to study because today Im not feeling well.
2mrw & on Tuesday I got 2 very challenging AS papers 2 sit. Use common senselah oi Ming Chai.
AS is going to be completed within 2 wks from today, next wk is my day. It seems like just yesterday I have entered 6th form life but time flies, so here I am enduring AS set by tricky examiners as my Accounting & Maths tutor gelar them.
Ok, yesterday the Love 18 idol drama already ended. I really hope there is continuation to the series, Love 19 perhaps Sony, Astro & scriptwriters.
1 line said by Joshua from the last episode:
the age of 18 is the age of growth but the path of growing up is still long.
You thought you wont find friend, but instead you find 2 good friends.
You thought you will fly alone in the skies of 18, but instead you have 2 people accompanying along the way.
I dedicate that script line 2 my best friend, Bani Zera & other SMSA & SAS friends who accompanies me along the rough path these few yrs.
I know that I dont have many friends as in they can be counted with fingers & I dont communicate much with kamu semua, but kamu semua will always be remembered sampai bila2.
Thanks guys!Right, change direction again.
Basketball is said as a mainly Chinese game. Well not anymore because a growing number of Malays & Indians are playing this sport. Me? Yes I do play basketball but I have not played for quite a long period already due to loads of work to be done. My skills are not that good when compared to some non-Chinese basketball friends who can do many amazing skills that I cant even do despite being trained by that friend some time ago. Babal jua ku ni, ops PreU students dont like that word.
Bah, thats it. Next posting will be about my birthday wishes. Bye
P.S. This Friday I will blanja set 3 Accounting with some tidbits like our tutor, Miss Tan always did. Yang lain ada jua part kamu just kureng sketlah jangan marah ok!

AS is here so what?

If you failed your internal exam doesnt matter, its the external exam aka A Level that is important - my Biz Studies Cikgu Ok this morning, I have sat 4 P1 Maths AS. To simplify what I think of the paper, its throw marks & quite easy! Well I guess its up to the Cambridge 'orang putih' examiner whether 2 give me a B, C or unexpected A 4 P1. I have done my part very badly, so the other half depends on Cambridge. Hopefully I have a good news in August. Ok, just got my Biz Studies 2 and overall I pass. Yeah, internal exam I have done quite well, so what AS? You are just a piece of paper that need 2 be filled with crap with logics within 1-3hr. Yoh marah aku, nolah bah escape 2 my crib alrdy!

A little fact & a rascal note

Mother Day is the best time for businesses such as florists, restaurants, jewellers (diamonds are girl's best friend). Everyone will be celebrating it in a grand manner or if not in a special way.
Brunei is considered to be one of the best place in the world for mothers. So mums & kids, consider yourself lucky to live in this small, but rich country.
Few years ago, I wrote an essay about 'A Mother's Love', for a Japan organised competition. Too bad, I did not win anything, not even a participation certitificate. Blimey!
Fine, a mother's love is greater than anything else in this world, as important as a father's love. Without, both of them you will never be born in this world. I would like to quote a few lines from I Not Stupid Too, a Singapore movie (yeah, I am not stupid too, just kurang pandai)
Where do babies come from?
Answer 1: Rubbish dump
Answer 2: You will understand when you grow up
Answer 3: When mum's egg & father's worm fuses together
Another quote from I am not stupid! (I am not stupid either!): When mothers nag at you, it for your own good!
Ok, I also need to to shut-up since Avril Lavigne had also learnt to shut-up. However, a few more sentences.
Thank you, mum for taking care of this rascal (yes I am, last time, now eh IDK!) all these years with care & love.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
P.S. Gonna be in a examaniac mode till next week!

Candyman

Hi happy weekend 2 all & happy stress wk starting next wk 4 those taking AS Level. I guess this is gonna be my last constant update, since Im gonna be XTREMELY BZ mcm banar tu! However, there may be 'once in a blue moon' update. Ok today happening. This morning there was a general assembly 4 PreU students. Nothing much to speak about the assembly or no that 5-lettered word being said except a few burst of laughter when Cikgu disiplin speaks. Hahaha ops terlebih sudah! Today, aku jadi 'candyman' distributing candies & chocolates to those in set 5 Biz Studies, set 4 Maths, set 3 accounting (my classmates) Bagi yg inda dapat, sorry my stock are limited & those in set 2 GP maybe on Monday yeah! Everyone said that TODAY was my birthday tapi its NOT! Anyway its coming soon & I will be posting what are my birthday wishes pretty soon. If can, please help me 2 tunaikan at least 1 of my hajat, ok? Today's candies giveaway is just to improve classmate relationship, no other hidden agenda!

Stressful Days Ahead, road 2 success is very long

Tick tock tick tick, the clock is ticking and it waits for no man not even a King. Its the month of May already, which means that AS is just a 'stone throw away' as in 5 days for my 1st paper. Tutors are giving us a 'final push' this last few weeks before the AS, then we are on our own.
In Physics, there is something which is known as inertia, which means at rest. To move it, you must introduce a force (is that right? I forget already). I am in a inertia mode, for quite a long time already, and surely 'last minute studies' is not a very nice thing to do, but have to be done. According, to a revision guide, even if its 3 days before your exams, if used productively, it will still make a difference between passing & failing/passing & getting a credit. A fact of life is when you are an average student, tutors expect you to get B or at least a credit. Meanwhile, if you are quite a star student, tutors are expecting you to get an A grade or even better Top 10 in Brunei/world! High-performing students are really under pressure to achieve it!
The key is sacrifice of time for watching TV, if I would like to achieve my target of entering NUS, which is gonna be tough. Too bad there is no 3R concept in time, where it can be reduced, reuse & regenerate. Ok, bye!

Things may not go as you planned

Satisfaction lies in the effort not the attainment. Full effort is full victory - Mahatma Gandhi

Yesterday, I had a terrible night till this morning. What happened? Well it blackout all of the sudden around 9.15 pm, and unluckily it was only my house having blackout! After a few attempts 'messing with circuitboard', it went back to normal. Too bad it went off again the 2nd time. At this point, I was puzzled what cause all these. It went off again 4 the 3rd time! Damn! After a few 'trial & error' with switches, finally we discovered was caused these, it was a mechanical mice that keeps on squeeking 247 & made me having 2 endure 'no mai lap' situation everynite, ah it was the aircond in my room. I guess those mice inside the roof, ate the wires, anyway electrician will come later! So last nite, I slept with no AC & fan, its more environmentally-friendly, poor me!

Just now, just got back my paper 2 GP, and boy was I pleasantly surprised. I got 42/50 which many attain in set 2. Overall, I got a B, but almost A just a few marks more. So, the theme is work work work blog blog blog. I attribute this to my hardwork, but its not so logical! The other reasons could be my 'red&white' wristband as my lucky charm kot or excessive blogging syndrome!

1st of all thanks 2 Miss Tan, Accounting Tutor 4 helping me 2 collect my gift goodie bag @ RTB on Monday. It was a Tel Bru sponsored prize to commemorate their Trilogy celebration. Inside, there are 10 items mostly writing materials. In these few years, Im really so into winning gifts from radio stations. Some of the things that I have won include goodie bags, vouchers, hampers, books, Easicards, clocks, etc. My most valuable gift was the Pepsi hamper that I have won & also the DST goodie bag + easi starter pack that I won in conjunction with DST 12th anniversary. Im wondering why can I do public speaking on-air radio live tapi I cant even present my GP presentation well as in tergagap2!

See, the title of this post is matching with my situation right now. I spend 1 hr typing on my mobile for this post, then the Blogger network does not save it, so I gotta type it again! Haiyah so troublesome!

That it, stupid connection! Bye

Babal or in bahasa standardnya keras kepala, seems 2 b a popular word in blogs after what happened on the 2nd May 2009 between 7.45am-8am. Ok so AFMASUK BABAL 2 32999 and you will get reply:Harap maaf kod pelajar Akademi Fantasia tak sah, sila periksa dan cuba lagi. Terima Kasih kerana membazir 50sen!

Yesterday, was Sunday a day for a good rest but not 4 me. From 7.45-11.15, I have Maths xtra class. Then, around 1, I went 2 Bandar. OTW ada 1 self-accident involving 1 white Toyota Echo & pembahagi jalan d Tutong-Muara highway. Then near Tungku Link, I saw many people berlari, berjalan, menarik tayar, etc. It was the SMARTER Brunei President's Walk from KB - Giant sejauh 107km. Then pass by DST HQ, and saw a billboard kah apa? Saying that tq 4 ur continuous support 4 the last 14 yrs. Ur mostly welcome from a customer yg banyak complaint! Shopping arah Hua Ho Qlap, ada sale tapi it doesnt reflect in my bill. Then, tapau 'Golden Roaster' @ Rasamas. Its nice you should try it as well as Percik roaster. Next stop, The Mall. It was badly jammed & seas of humans. My dad have 2 park near Booker. Actually, Im thinking of getting a pair of glasses bcoz I cant see very clearly sampai boleh terliat salah org @ Vision Optical pasal 1 hr udah siap. Tapi I totally 4get about it. Kata orang:Those with glasses r all pandai. Evidence:See how many in Sc classes wearing glasses, banyak kan? This include Angie, Mizi, Magnescia, Fwuu Chyi, many more. My say:Im not saying that yg not wearing glasses inda pandai, pandai jua so no offences yeah! Kalau ada yg terasa SORRY! D Incomm got many people bcoz ada Sony Ericsson phones at discount ranging from $30-$150. Go take free Kokoberry drink as my redemption kad full udah. I choose watermelon shake tapi there r other choices like strawberry ice cream rainbow, etc. Also got some Korean tourists d sana. Anhyeongsayo welcome 2 Brunei! After a while @ The Mall, went to Sing-U-Me 2 makan. B4 balik, go 2 Mamih 2 tapau sate 4 dinner. Nyaman eh satenya, only 25sen/cucuk. Thats it 4 Sunday tales, next Monday annoying!

Around 5am tried 2 go on9 but cant. Its bcoz of $25 fee already due, which means I have been using GO! Broadband 4 1 yr alrdy. My experience had been quite ok with it bcoz I know when is the best time 2 use it e.g. 4-6am. With it also, I am also able to own a Dell XPS laptop.

Ok 2day, GP & Accounting tutor had gone 2 Bandar 4 13th Brunei national debate competition finals, hence no class but got work 2 do. I hope she remember 2 get the thing, if not it means I have 'no jodoh' with the thing. Maths class learn about stem & leaf diagram. It really test my patience as you need full concentration 2 get it correct. Once you get distracted, bye bye wrong!

Ok thats it, need 2 rest bcoz everynite 'no mai lap'(bahasa Thai) no tq 2 mechanical mice sqeeking 247! Bye

May

Tick tock tick tock tick tack toe, you have been hypnotised by Hypno's hipnopsis. (eh wait this isnt Pokemon season anymore, its outdated). Papa jambatan jambatan Tamparuli, ..... jambatan Tamparuli (a local song of Sabah natives)
OMG, its May already, that means ...... ITS EXAM FEVER AGAIN & something else on the 24th(too bad I cant celebrate it this yr bcoz it falls on a Sunday, cis! However, I will find 1 day to blanja kamu semua Pizza Hut take-away arah kantin ajelah, low budget this yr)! Next part of this blog post will be fully in Bahasa Melayu versi Sabah, Brunei & Semenanjung Malaysia, because I need 2 polish my Malay 2 prepare 4 ujian bertulis permohonan penduduk tetap(PR) Brunei. 4 ur info, foreigners perlu menetap d Brunei at least 15 YEARS baru can apply, so Im still not layak bcoz baru 12 YEARS!
Bulan Mei tiba lagi selepas tak berjumpa setahun.
Oklah, Im tired of typing in Malay so its back 2 'bahasa rojak'. 2day the PreU students have assembly. After the usual routine, we have 'extraordinary' business as in the introduction of new Deputy Principal, Cikgu Hj Ishak who will 'fill in the shoes' of Cikgu Hj Adenin who have been transfered & promoted as Principal of SMPAPHRSB. Selamat datang cikgu! Some students said that things are going 2 change after this. Let see what will change? Stricter regulation? After that I think 1 of the school SM gave us 'soft approach' talk or in newspaper lingo 'SM SLAMS PREUs'. There were a few things that she touch about such as cleanliness, being punctual, wearing coloured socks, sitting on handrails, PS @ waiting bay, keeping voice down, etc.
Recently, I read about an article in Remix about kenali body language lelaki. It say that 'SHY GUYS r DA BEST GUYS AROUND' bcoz they have more respect 4 gals. Ah, betul ke? Cayalah! It also say, consider urself lucky if u r close 2 a nice shy guy. They're '1 in sejuta'. Kalau ini kesnya, kamu jaga baik2 'harta karun' nanti dicuri stalker!
Im currently watching love 18, the actors r talking about the song stand by me - a song about friends. Thats it 4 now, wo cho cai cafe tien ...(Im sitting at a cafe ) a part of the lyrics of a song by Free! Bye! (Argh, Sunday class tak suke lah aku)
P.S. If any1 want 2 read the article about body language pls approach me tq
