Plain Crap:A YES,a language & some $ talk

Apology to Earthlings who were waiting for me to post up something last week but Im terribly busy last week so cant post a thing or rather cant find time. Last week I was bugged by a tutor who literally left almost 20 of us who was in his tutorial group on a 'cliffhanger'! In addition, I was busy with group discussions for assignments that is going to be due soon or in other words this week! Anyways, I managed to find some time today to post up something, enjoy people and I see you probably next week or so?

Amazing YES or plain trick?
Malaysians have been amazed by YES since its launch in November 2010. This include me (Yours Truly), who have done so much promotion for YES that I managed to get 2 new customers for YES (banggalah, LOL!). In addition, my Bruneian fellow friends were also very much interested in YES service, and was amazed by its low ping(latency) & also blazing speed of download. There is a saying that says 'Good things should be shared with others, so if you get fast internet why not share which ISP you are using so that your fellow friends can also enjoy the same' Sharing is Caring! Last week, Star published an interview with Tan Sri Francis Yeoh, the man behind YES4G (or better known as the people network). He states that YES4G network is able to support 15 million/15 JUTA users before it gets congested and require upgrade! I beg to differ Tan Sri, but Im more pessimistic I say 1.5 million users and Yes will be congested! 15 million is like half of Malaysia population! Is YES really prepared for that much of users without upgrade? Lets wait and see! In another update, Tan Sri Francis also said if there is 20 million/20 JUTA users on board YES4G network, they will do a Groupon and give more discounts to users (other words lower rates). It is also mentioned that they are targeting 400,000 students nationwide next! Ok, but your student plan (Campuspack) is more costly than normal Valuepack.Apa macam ini?
Language Language
Last week, it was reported that the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaya came under fire for asking undergrads to improve their English! Im not here to comment about that, but Im here to present my observation of which I always runs into trouble with! Generally, (not all) city folks/KLians are more inclined to speak English, even when you speak to them in Chinese/Malay. Not talking about Bahasa Rojak here. While non-KLians are more adaptive, you speak English with them they reply in English and so on so forth. This is just a general observation, please dont find me and give me a piece of you (Disclaimer haha, Biz Law class teach me to use disclaimer)! KL is an international metropolis so apa nak dihairankan!
Money Not Enough Meh!
Im not here to create a script for Jack Neo famous Money Not Enough continuation but rather to blog about what was talked about this morning, which I think was rather a heavy topics for us students now. Previously I had blogged that scholarship students from certain countries can get up to RM$3500/month as allowances! That is like the salary of an account officer I guess! Students have been grapling with increasing cost no thanks to 'people 1st' government policy of reducing subsidies, for the betterment of our future generation! 1 full tank of petrol requires Rm$50 for a small car, and imagine 4 days of class commuting to and for your house to uni, how long can it last? Not to mention if you have to go dating with your girlfriends if any, hangout with friends at mamak stalls. Imagine how much the petrol and toll costs a month? This is only 1st part of the story! Havent even talked about food, etc, etc! Talking about food, dont you find it rather irony that uni food are supposed to be at par or cheaper than outside? However for my case and perhaps a few others, this is the case! There had been already talks of further reduction of subsidies for flour n sugar, but the govt quashed it as baseless but often gave warnings 'WE CANT TAHAN ANYMORE'! Bracing a 10-20sen increase in drink price/50sen increase in food price once in a blue moon is acceptable but once every 3 months is a big NO NO! Not to mention gym, phone, internet,Astro, shopping n more, allowance of RM700-1000 a month might not be enough if you are not smart enough and you spend money like running tap! What if (touchwood) you get samans, how to pay? Then, the emergency savings come into play! But if you dont have how? Sie liao loh! (die already) or you are in a big trouble! Even if you have quite a sizeable savings like me, with the paltry interest banks give (0.1-2% at most) and luckily I found the one the give 1.5%! Inflation is going to eat up your savings, and here comes investment into the game! Investment is not a zero risk game but there are some low risk investment such as REITs which so far so good!
Well there you have it 3 feature stories for this week. hope you enjoy it.before I end condolences to Japan tsunami n earthquake victims, stay strong and rebuild Japan as Asia powerhouse! And today, some video had been exposing some opposition figure that the govt didnt like! Mind you we had a Johor video last time, then a superimposed picture of somebody, some nude pictures of some politicians, and a whole lot more in the past. Now, some alleged video of this person with a prostitute? Have their thinking drop so low til the Gutter Level?

Enough, of me talking crap! I gotta go lots of things to do! Bye, have a great week ahead

Chillax Days

Well hello there its Sunday again! Entering 3rd week of Sem2, and the bad news are slowly creeping in! Assignment due dates are in 12 days (the earliest), in between tons of notes, tutorials, online quizzes to be answered! And mind you, 1st 2wk lessons seems ok but starting wk 3 Im starting to see 'stars' aka blur, especially Money n Cap & Biz Law (2 of the most difficult units). Ok, I wont bore you dear readers of this 'boring wordy' blog with details of how difficult it is. Instead I will blog about MATTA, Shogun Nite Out & Saturday! Enjoy
Shogun Nite Out

On Thursday went to eat at Shogun with 9 other people (JX and his girlfriend, Wen Li, Yun Soon and his girlfriend, 'birthday girl' Shu Wern, Elaine, Shu, Andrea & Tommy (thanks for driving me to and from Pyramid). Paid $52 for the buffet which I think is quite reasonable for the range of food. This dinner is to celebrate the completation of Management & Microecon units, and also to mark the start of Assignment Time sem 2! Lots of things were talked about (off the record not posted in this blog or anywhere else but in our brains, haha LOL!) I had quite a lot of food:tempura, dimsum, fish, 2 soup, lots of drinks, fruits, ABC, teppenayaki, sushi (forget already). Not quite tasty as people say in blog! But its enjoyable as Im eating with a bunch of people that is not considered 'boring'!

MATTA
This crazy fellow (Yours Truly) travelled all the way to PWTC for no apparent reason just to see MATTA Fair when he is supposed to do uni related things! Ok the truth is I am 'researching' for destinations to go during my holiday in Jun or in Dec! Choices are HK/Shenzhen/Macau, South Korea! And in the fair, I found something quite unusual travel to North Korea? I remembered I watched a video on STOMP, that in neighbouring Singapore NATAS Fair which was held a little earlier than MATTA, there was also tour offering to North Korea! Its a country that people wont normally travel to but it seems there are more and more tours to North Korea even from Brunei!
visit korea sparkling and get free teddy?nope try again!

Cant go to Korea? No worries take a pict on this Hallyu Wave board

Saturday Day Out
Saturday I met up with my cousin at 1U and also to go for the CDRAMA Music Carnival to get some CDs autographs. 1st we went for lunch at Fish n Co. Pretty reasonable price I must say for such a large portion of food in a pan! And dont forget to try Cola/Kola Tonic their signature drink!
Then after that almost 2pm so I go to CDRAMA Carnival to buy CDs and also to catch a glimpse of artist (details later part of this blog)
Sorry That I bought your CD haha LOL!
Sorry That I Love you! Know this song people? I suppose you do if you listen to Chinese radio stations! Its one of the hits song currently on the charts! And possible one of the most liked love songs for now! I think on Friday there was someone I know RT a tweet that says 'buka Channel V ada orang putih nyanyi pikir nyanyi lagu English tapi actually lagu Cina'! And who is this 'orang putih nyanyi lagu Cina' that Im talking about? He is Anthony Neely or Chinese name Nee An Tong!
What can I say about him, his dad is from US and his mum is from Taiwan. He is not an ABC I think (because ABC is both American Chinese parents)! He had just recently released his album Lesson One! Enough history, lets get back to the meet the fans session
At the carnival, he sang 'live' Sorry That I Love You and autographed the lyrics book! In addtion he also shook hands with the buyers after autographing them! CDRAMA had a 20% disc of the CD price so I also didnt miss the opportunity to get autograph and shook hands with him. The only bad thing was too many rules were imposed due to lack of time (eg no photograph on the stage)! Enough said, I will let the pictures to speak for itself and also a video of sorry that i love you (if you are interested)!
Bye see ya soon with more interesting content

snap people snap as many picts as possible

The Week That Twas!

So, I had been almost a week Im back to KL for 2nd sem 1st yr of my degree! Lets break the stories up into a few small parts. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
Air Asia Flight
The flight well nothing to shout about since its AirAsia, an LCC. Well there was some delay I supposed is caused by the pretty uncomfortable air condition.I think the worst turbulence that I had experienced!
In Brunei Airport, when the loaders were unloading cargos/bags/etc from the aircraft, suddenly a few kotak of Dell products fell off as the hatch was opened! Wonder if the computer was damaged. And apparently, there were a lorry + of Dell products, and some of the people who were waiting said 'They just umban aja'!
Since its an afternoon flight I decided to order nasi lemak for my 'early dinner'. I came with a small tiny cup of tea/coffee. Costs RM$12 but its really filling, the rice was fragrant, half an egg, some ikan bilis, few pieces of chicken rendang and a whole lot of sambal.I must say the rendang was a tad too spicy for me compared to what I had in my previous flight with RBA!
New Sem,New Vision
New sem, new target to be achieved! For the start, let me talk a bit about my Summer results, not great but I passed with credit, ok finish! The biggest shock of this sem is the amount of work that have to be put, as well as a Law book that costs $399 despite of floods, drought, etc in Australia (man Australia is very costly). So far so good for the lectures and tutorials! But its only 1st week and still 11 weeks to go! Haih! And I guess I knew nobody in the tutorials since I choose the 'less laku' ones haha
Movie Nite
Of late I had been playing an online treasure hunt on Fb organised by Maybank FUN! The organisers decided to book a cinema for movie nite on Thursday. So, I registered for it and it was held at GSC Tropicana City Mall. After my dinner at Room18, went for registration & got goodie bag! Event started at 8pm, and movie 127 Hours started at around 9pm. Before movie there was a speech on NEXT programme (if you want to learn how to be rich and have a chance to meet the top bosses in Malaysia like the man behind YES4G, Tan Sri Francis Yeoh of YTL, the man behind Now Everyone can fly, Dato Seri Tony Fernandes, and more!) as well a beach ball game (not kidding a beach ball game in a cinema). In the game there were cash prizes, food, Starbuck vouchers! Although I was entitled for the Starbucks voucher but apparently the official didnt see me hence forget about me, and I have no luck in winning the RM180/100 cash prizes! But had a great nite though!
Zoom to Robinsons
Yesterday, I went to Robinsons (again!) to go for the GP sale preview for Robinsons cardmembers! Only bought a T-shirt UP RM69 but I only paid RM$47.10 (less RM$15 voucher that I earned + 10% disc). And they were serving good coffee, mind you not Nescafe or Super or Power Root but Italiano coffee thats made one by one! You can have latte, capucino or espresso! All for the customers
Say YES again?
News reports state that YTLComm aka YES4G is exploring to apply for license to offer its service in Sabah & Sarawak, which is a good news to me. For the record, Sabah & Sarawak dont have Unifi like Semenanjung do hence the main ISP is Streamyx.Hence if YES is coming to 'other side', Sabah & Sarawak will be enjoying full blown 4g speed with voice n SMS in a package. In addition, after 105 days of service, of which the 1st few days was a disaster but YES managed to make it up with a 'sorry gift' of 10GB for early adopters, it had carried over 1 million min of calls, almost 700k of SMSes & a whooping 105TB of data! It is also revealed that more than 100k of people had 'said YES' aka used YES service (proud to say include me). Finally, 80% of customers (including me but not lately) are satisfied with YES!
Yesterday, YES added more value n device into its offering. There is now a V68 (valuepack68) with 3.5GB,150 min of calls + SMS & V150 with 10GB,250 mins & SMS. For EPP, campuspack28 with 1Gb,100min,400SMS.
For device the much awaited Zoom is launched at RRP of $399, while the not so nice 4g phone Buzz is launched at $499 (which is lower than previously stated $599)
For the record, I have purchased a valuepack and still cant used it yet, perhaps its my fault or YES system need sync training!

Thats about it folks, i catch you up soon! too much to do. Before I go, just got a new roomate from Penang, a Med & Bioscience student. Gotta gotta go bye
