Kalaidescope:The Year That Was .... 2010

Let see for 2010, we have a YES, an octopus that can be a fortune-teller, a dosage of almost endless bus accidents, lots of politicking, freak floods, a director scandal, a Royal divorce, a leaking problem and lots more. There are more but you dont expect me to round up a year of events 365 days in this blogpost right? A series of stories for the year events
Will Malaysian say YES?
With much fanfare and Taiwan Susan Boyle at the launch, YES was launched on 19 November 2010. What is YES? YES is YTL foray into the internet business through its fastest '4G' mobile internet with voice network that is deemed to be a people network. However, people started to say NO, when its website cant be accessed as the timer in the website goes off. Apparently, it was being hacked. And in few days later YES says SORRY to Malaysians by offering a FREE 10GB usage. This action was being praised by many as YES dont simply 'lepas tangan' of the problems. My own experience with YES was a good experience, I must say 'for the 1st time in my life have I seen a mobile internet (not wired) achieve up to 8 mbps! Well, it doesnt stay at 8 mbps all the times but most of the time it is at a satisfactory level to allow me to stream radio smoothly. So, it is remained to be seen whether YES can maintain this 'amazing speed when you say YES' and will more Malaysian say YES to amazing things?
Paul The Octopus, The Real Winner of FIFA world cup 2010
Do you like eating 'sotong tutuk', well then I suggest you refrain from eating 'sotong tutuk' anymore as it could be Paul's the octopus family members, LOL! Joking only. All of the sudden the world spotlight moved from the annoying vuvuzelas sounds into the aquarium tank in Germany. All thanks, to the late Paul the octopus who predicted correctly many matches involving the Germany team in world cup 2010. Many people say it was being biased as it grown up in Germany soil, however one of the matches it predicted Germany loses against Serbia correctly. And, Paul was bookie's worst enemy and wanted it to be killed. And later, Paul became the enemies of the Dutchs who lost against Germany in the finals. They wanted Paul to be roasted, thus it have to get security protections to prevent people from 'trying to do something bad to it'. Paul became an instant celebrity and even Holloywood wanted to make a movie based on its story. However, recently Paul died. RIP Paul the Octopus, you have created a lot of buzz to world cup 2010
Beast of Terror, Machine of Horror
I have lost count of how many bus accidents that have occurred in 2010. The latest was just 2-3 weeks ago, in Cameron Highlands road involving a bus and 28 were killed in what was known as the worst bus accident in Malaysia. And even more tragic on the nite of Triple 10, a many car pile up caused by a bus that 'hopped/jumped', and quite a few lives were lost. And as I returned from Genting Highlands end of October, a bus accident occured, another in April occurred in Bukit Gantang and lots more, bus accidents tales it would be too depressing to read so many accident stories. So I shall stop here and the blame game starts, the signboard, highway, spare parts, drivers, road, and the list goes on and on. A very interesting one is the driver got no lesen in 1 of the case!
Stop All the Politicking, Get Back to work
A year filled will 'by-elections', 'quits', etc. Malaysia political arena is too colourful sometimes too colourful that it blinds the hindsight of the government that it had a more important task to do, manage the country, improve the economy, put food on our table! Yes no doubt the government had done its work but there is still too much politicking in the name of the work. The by elections shows that BN is regaining its strength, but PR maybe gaining momentum as seen from DAP winning Sibu. From the party assemblies, we can see that UMNO wanted to 'protect Putrajaya at all costs', while in the PR congress we were introduced to a new 'orange movement' for a more equitable Malaysian. As Zainon Ahmad in The Sun said 'Deliver first then let the rakyat decide'. Im not going to talk about the 'quitters' since, it will be long but these people are 'shooting themselves in their own foot'
Mother Nature Rage!
In June, Singapore was hit by a series of flood that not only affect the normal Singaporean but that of a Minister as reported in the media. And that Minister went for a 'good talk' with his fellow Minister in charge of floods. Some people were blaming overdevelopment but apparently, the worst hit area Orchard Road where the biggest lost was incurred, it was no thanks to a blocked culvert and they got it fixed recently. Hopefully, no more freak floods hit Singapore. On our homefront, Kedah was badly hit and the Federal government was quick to hit out at the PR led Kedah government for not giving more assistance to the flood victims. For sure this earns BN some points from the Kedahan and we shall see if PR can hold on Kedah?
Alls Well End Well?
Ku sangka cuaca panas hingga ke petang tetapi hujan pula tengah hari. Have you ever heard of this Malay proverb, it means, things may not go smoothly as you thought. Singapore was rocked by a few young ladies coming out to say that a famous director, Jack Neo had 'scandal' with them. This is really a blow to Jack's family but it seems that his wife can take it and forgive him. Jack had brought his family gone hiding for a few months for the storm to cool down! Recently he appeared back into the media spotlight with his new movie. Will his acting as Liang Po Po again makes people forget the Jack Neo saga? Time shall tell! Across the border, in my 2nd home country, Brunei, the Sultan has divorced his 2nd wife a Malaysian journalist from TV3, Azrinaz Mazhar in June 2010. According to The Brunei Times report, "His Majesty, for specific reasons (which were not disclosed) has divorced Azrinaz Mazhar with a single talak. After that annoucement was aired via RTB on the nite, Twittersphere was buzzing with Bruneians cheering as the Sultan made a wise decision. Apparently, at first I didnt knew what was the story behind their cheering but now I know partly, but better keep it secret, we are not allowed to meddle with Royal affairs. And someone joked that marah ni Giant, esok barang runcit naik harga ni!
Leak That Caused A Headache
Towards the end of this year, WikiLeaks make headline as a lot of countries became its victim. Among them Singapore and Malaysia. Singapore dismissed them as a 'cocktail talk', while Malaysia was not happy about this. And apparently, Mr Julian the founder of WikiLeaks also have a headache of his own his sex trial!
Well there you have it my selection of 7 stories to sum up 2010. Coming up after this post is my own 2010 roundup
Happy New Year 2011 and be more responsible of your actions

Happening Now: My Past 3 Days

XMAS CHAT
Well helo there Merry Xmas. I guess you all had a lot of turkeys, fruitcake (burp excuse me, LOL!), pudding, etc for your Xmas feast. Not to mention, lots of Xmas carol singing and also sure you did a lot of 'unboxing' of gifts. Bet some of you got laptops, iPad, iPhone4, iPods, or even cash in your Xmas stocking! In our joy of celebrating this 'blessful' Xmas, lets not forget that they are people who cant celebrate Xmas as lavish as we do or even cant afford to celebrate Xmas at all due financial constraints of the family. Lets hope that these people will be able to have a joyful Xmas next yr and we continue to enjoy our 'lavish' Xmas.
Enough of talking about Xmas, lets talk about what did I do the past 3 days. 1st up, on Thursday is the last day of lectures as Xmas Eve, 24th we were given offday!
'This is not a fire drill'
And on Thursday in the middle of Microecon lecture the loudspeaker boomed! 'Emergency, this is not a fire drill, please evacuate immediately' So all of us, enjoy our sweet time to walk to the Assembly Point. Someone who was among the smartest in our class said 'If this is a real fire I would have ran to the carpark rather than standing at the Assembly point to watch the building burnt down'. He has a point there in saying this, why would someone stand around near a place that catches fire, shouldnt we run as far as possible? Then, the OSH Manager of Monash gave a comment on our performance on the fire drill: 'If this is a real fire half of you would have died, you were supposed to go from where you are to the Assembly Point in less than 3min but you take 5min!' An our temporary 'efficient' or I say 'Ferrari lecturer', said 'If not for this drill I would have finished long time ago, dont blame me!'
'Drink, drank, drunk, conscious, dizzy, floating'
And of course, Friday being Xmas Eve! So, JX said Him, Ben, Tommy, Elaine & Shu Wern will have party tonite (last nite) at and we will eat & drink till all drunk, and ask me to join. So, I OK since I never experienced Xmas Eve party 'KL style' LOL! The waiting time for the party was very very long! Until, I know that he specially go to buy KFC at 1Utama which he says its better than other KFC outlets aka more crispy. Oh yeah, and JX brought a girl to join us, forget what is her name. And my goodness, the traffic at Sunway area was very BAD! All roads leading to MOS! So we reached Elaine house in Mentari Court quite late!
Before I continue on what happen let me describe Mentari Court as briefly as possible. Nearby there are KTM Komuter station, so its convenient for you to travel here & there! But, when you enter the block, OMG it looks like some houses like those sort of Pekeliling Flat perhaps because its an old block, like someone said 'like my grandfather house'! In addition, there are a lot of 'Awang Hitam' or more properly described as the Africans. But however if your budget is tight, its a good choice as according to Elaine her rental for a 3-room unit was only RM750/month not inclusive of utilities. And comparing my current rental of RM730 for a twin-sharing wef 2011 aka next wk, its a 'rip-off'. That why I am keen to rent a whole condo unit which could cost anything between RM3000-4000/month but if you get 8 people to stay together then its RM500/person. But I need to find 8 people which is kinda 'mission impossible'!
Back to the party story, after makan, we played a game 'The Circle of Death', nope it not a spirit calling game involving coins and cup. Its a game that only involves playing cards. How this works:the cards are arranged in 4 levels circularly and these levels determine the amount of liquor that a person have to consume, its either 1sip,2sip,3sip or 1 whole cup! You have to pick a card which obviously everyone started from the lowest level, and say whether is red/black. If you guess wrongly you have to drink but if you guess correctly then you can choose any of the player to drink. Understand, the rules let the game begins and may nobody got drunk haha! At first few cards, I say 'Ok Im safe from drinking any liquor tonite' But unfortunately, my luck ran out after 1st 2 cards and I gotta drink 1sip of wine (AKA this is my 1st time consuming alcoholic drinks, so here goes nothing)! 1st few sips of wine were ok, but when the wine were out of supply, the liquor was changed into Codka (Coke + Vodka). And Elaine said this vodka smells like nail polish remover while JX said the salesperson said its best seller! So, vodka is 30% alcohol compared to wine 12.5% so oh oh! But surprisingly its only coke taste just the smell of vodka only. To cut the long story short, the final card was during Ben's turn and unfortunately he guessed wrongly and had to drank 1 whole glass of Codka! Poor Ben last nite he gotta drink lots of alcohol!
And at the stroke of midnite, we all drank a glass of Codka to celebrate the coming of Xmas! I though ok Im still cool alrite just a bit dizzy however soon after the effects of the alcohol starting to come into power! I gotta rush to the toilet to muntah and after muntah, I feel like myself is floating, and it take quite some time for me to improve my situation to only dizzy! And some people like JX are 'sifu' in drinking, he can drink quite a lot and still can drive. So, its better that I learn to drink now rather than embrass myself infront of big taukes in the future when I start work. Its either now or sooner, never going to be never! But, I promise myself I wont touch any alcohol unless on special occasions like that of last nite!
Reached home at 1.30am, and straight away slept
Sea's of people
So just now, I went to window-shopped at Mid Valley. My goodness so many people, hardly got any space to breathe. Even in the KTM Komuter, it was packed to the max like sardin in cans. I wonder why they wont use the 6-car komuter? And all the roads in/out of Mid Valley was jammed! Even in The Gardens, which is a high-class mall also got a lot of people!
Enough of jams, lets talk about Xmas deco in MV. It was theme after toys yes toys. Remind you & me of the times when we were a child. There was bear, blocks, etc.On the other hand, The Gardens have a very beautiful xmas trees decorated with crystals/glass.
Went to MPH to 'hunt' for Klik (for your info I had hunted all the shops in Sunway Pyramid but they dont seem to have it). And found that Karnival Karangkraf is on 28-30Jan 2011. Wohoo, I can buy Klik, Remaja, Sinar Harian maybe at discounted prices and get gifts! Cant wait for it, the spoiling factor is its close to exam dates!
Had lunch at Room 18, where? not Room 13 (if you know what I mean, LOL!). Its a new dining concept introduced by Tai Thong Group, 1 of Malaysia's best Chinese restaurants group. Why did I choose here instead of the usual 'affordable' food court? From my earlier scouring of blogs, found out that they sell Venison (Deer/Rusa) meat which I badly wanted to eat! Since Room18 is part of Tai Thong I expect it to be good but .... please read on. No doubt the food was good but the service is extremely slow, I gotta wait almost 25min for the drink to be served and 30min for the food to be served, perhaps because its peak hours thats why its slow! Instead of letting people wait 25min for a drink to be served, its better to serve the drink within 5min of ordering! What I like is they have a wide range of tea for you to choose. I have Pu Er tea (RM2/glass), and my meal if of course ginger spring onion venison meat + rice which comes with a bowl of soup/curry sauce with taupok & very 'cute' fishballs (RM13.80/set). The fishballs was very  springy aka Q too bad there was only 4 haha! Even better, they accept Debit Card even below RM20, which is kinda good news to me, as I really 'sakit hati' if I had a quite expensive meal and had to pay in cash, by paying using Debit Card its less painful phychologically, LOL! And also from October til January, Public Bank is offering 3% cash back instead of the normal 0.3% on dining, air tickets, movies, hotels, so added incentive for me to use debit card. So Im sure to patronise this Room18 again as they seems to be the only restaurant I know that sells venison meat! Hope they open an outlet in Sunway Pyramid though.
Movie & Teh Tarik Nite
In the evening (just now), had dinner at Rock Cafe with Deo & his friends. After that we were forced to run here & there to find a cab to Pyramid as they plan to catch a movie and 'my coming wasnt expected so they only got 3 tickets'. Finally found a cab and say Pyramid terus say 'TAK MAU JAM!' So we decided to have a 'fast walk' to Pyramid thru the newly opened Canopy Walkway & fortunately I was able to get the movie ticket.
We watched Meet The Parents - The Fockers. My goodness it was so funny, a good stress reliever for me! There was a scene when the cat telan the gecko but Greg managed to make the cat to spit it out! Then there was another scene, Greg was cutting the turkey then suddenly saw the gecko and cut on his fingers! So funny and the name of the characters such as Gaylord, Focker (Im sorry Im not cursing anyone), lots of funny scene and it got a little aggresive towards the end as Greg fights with his dad-in-law. And there was this Early Human School, my god so high tech! Kindergartens kids you teach them how to draw potrets, learn about brain, etc!
After the movie we went to have tea at mamak stall actually at Jaafar's (1 of the most popular hangout in Sunway). Someone had shisha apple flavour and said it wasnt enough 'kick' compared to smoking a cigarette. I had roti canai of which someone said was crispy and nice but unfortunately maybe because its nite already, they already prepared in advanced and I got a cold hard roti! Had a nice chat on variety of topics over teh tarik, teh o kosong and teh o ais limau.
I really had an enjoyable time with them (Both of the nite the Xmas Eve party at Elaine's & Movie Nite with Deo & friends)
Xmas A Season of Giving
I am usually not very generous during normal days. Hence, Xmas is a time for me to compensate my 'stingyness' towards people by giving some small gifts in the form of $10 topup. I have started this since last yr, so this yr I continued with the tradition. In addition, I had also treated Deo & his friends just now at Jaafar's as a Xmas gift although it doesnt look like a gift. Yes, Xmas is a season to give but I dont expect anything in return for my small gift. Its a sincere gift from me, but whether Im really sincere or not is for those recipient to judge by themselves. I always go by the principle 'What goes around comes around' Some people may think this is a way to 'buy friendship', NO WAY AT ALL I STRONGLY DENIED IT! How can you buy FRIENDSHIP? Tell me its PRICELESS! Even though Im kinda lonely with little friends, Im not desperate to the MAX until resorting to these kinds of things. I cant be the Santa Claus to people I know since I have no financial capabilities, however it is hoped that these small gestures will make someone a happy camper

Well I guess thats it, and someone complained TL, DR regarding my blog, thus I have break up into a few parts. Coming right up is something inspired by my reading of the book Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Positive.
Good nite & Enjoy The Weekend
P.S. My embrassing pictures taken in Xmas Eve party will be uploaded when I got hold of them

Plain Crap:Criteria? Guys/Gals

As I read the newspapers today, something interests me. For every 1.05 men there is only 1 women. So this implys that some Msia guys are bound statistically to be single unless they 'hunt' elsewhere.
And on Wednesday, Management lecture was on decision-making. so our lecturer, Dr IAB as I call ed him or the others call him Dr Imam asked some of us both guys & gals what is your criteria to be your bf/gf? I wont be specific with names so that those persons wont be embrassed if they read this blog haha!
A guy said: Look is no 1, then family, hobby, others! Then the lecturer asked a girl, at first she was hesitant and didnt know how to answer it. But eventually, she answered it: Knows how to play guitar, funny, smart I guess! Then someone said 'Sir, she cant answer you bcoz her bf is beside her' And another one person said 'Look at the heart'
A very interesting answer from a guy is that he knows that girls wants 3C (Cash, Credit, Car), if not jangan harap kau nak pikat perempuan tu haha! Now this reminds me of a Chinese TV matchmaking show, Perfect Match aired every Thursday 11pm on ntv7. One of the episode caused a stir because of the female participant answer. One of the participants, Ma Nuo, stirred up controversy when she rejected a suitor’s invitation to ride with him on his bicycle. “I would rather cry in a BMW,” the 22-year-old girl said. And in Singapore as I had read lots of news on Singapore, no Condo no Kahwin!
Now, from all these points. That begs a question should Guys or Gals be choosy in picking their partners since there are 'limited supply' haha?
If you ask me, yes guys and gals should be choosy. Never ever, should it go to the extend that the guy/gal is being called a 'gold-digger'. However, if a guy wants to look at beauty they should also look at inner beauty and not only outer/external beauty that maybe 'plastic'!
Ok, no offences guys Im just writing out my mind!
Merry Xmas and Happy New Yr! What is xmas to you? To me its a day when families and friends gather together for a meal, and have a jolly good time!

Event: Lets Get Crazy with Music 2nite @ ntv7 Star Live Concert 2010

Large screen for those standing very far from stage

Another screen

Still sikit people, alah we M'sian like last minute LOL!

More people

ntv7 booth to get goodies and One FM PROTON Exora Yat Hou Kei Ping

people mountain people sea

Host: Sin Yee and One FM Nicholas

Menyasoikan haha new language

Thousands of people joined in for an almost 3h 'music madness' concert organised by ntv7, Star Live Concert. Its a FOC concert and there were a few zone of standing:Extreme Hot Zone, Hot Zone, Feel Good Zone (this is where I am) and the best VIP Zone. Many artists local and international were invited to perform. And before the show starts we were 'served' with lots of ads from the sponsors and organisers, ntv7, red box, one fm, galaxy, 988. And people were shouting like no tomorrow when the playback of their fav artists were shown on the screens.
Before I continue would like to apologise for the very bad quality of the pictures, coz my phone camera is BAD! And dang it, my battery flat out when it reached the climax (TJ vs AK and Delly Ding & JJ Lin performances I couldnt take picts)
Before 8.30pm live telecast, we were entertained by the winner of Star Live Concert Talent Contest who was from Penang and performed Solo Dance. He did a Robot Dance and a few other that entertained us very much
What I observe there are a lot Thomas Jack fans present, back in November when I went up to Genting for PWH Award, there were also a lot of TJ fans. I wonder what are their aura? 'Yang Kwang Nan Hai' image is it?
The host for the nite was Sin Yee & One FM Nicholas. The theme of the concert was 'Feng Ying Ye' or (Music Madness i guess). Sin Yee was dressed in bright red perfect match to the concert name Shi Fen Hong! Interestingly, they introduced a new word 'Menyasoikan' which means ..... IDK! HAha LOL! 1Msia together Feng Yi Ye!
The 1st act was by Landy Wen Lan. Disco, Sa Gua were some of the songs that she performed. In between, the hosts had a chat with her and she taught Nicholas how to dance
Next was Wu Jia Hui who was also a songwriter. He did a duet with Will Huang also a singer & songwriter. When it was Will turn to perform, he said Feng Yi Ye and the audience ask him to 'buka baju'. (This reminds me of the infamous Faizal Tahir act in 8TV concert 2-3 yr back) Instead, Will opened his shoes and sang on the stage bare-foot.
Next was 'Mr Shuai', Peter Ho/He Ren Dong. He sang a few songs
Then followed by MC Jin.
The one that I really liked is AK, a 2man Taiwan band. They did WOW! Oh no no no oh yeah yeah yeah!
Then, VChuan sang Zai Jian Dan Shen, one of the song that I like for now! And he is also a songwriter. Ding Dang Wo Ai Ta which is also the theme song of Pai Chuan Ni Wang was written by him. Malaysian talents are extremely prized asset in Taiwan music industry.
The 3rd last was TJ and got the audience crazy! They sang Duo Mao Mao, a drama theme song. In between their performance, Sin Yee helped Jack to wipe sweat off his forehead to the envy of the female TJ fans below the stage. And they did a PK battle with AK with their rendition of Super Junior M, Super Girl!
Ding Dang was the 2nd last performance of the nite. She of course sang Wo Ai Ta and Wo She Yi Zhi Siao Siao Niao. When the hosts asked her when she will open a concert in Msia she replied 'If Malaysians want it tomorrow also can'!
Lastly, the international superstar JJ Lin. He sang She Says, a song from his latest album. And also a few other songs. The hosts asked him about his love life and he said 'Still working on it'!
The nite ended with a firework display.
Overall I was pleased with the performance. However, I think some of them wasnt pleased or too comfortable. But what can you complaint its a FOC concert. Some almost fainted in the very crowded environment and medic were called in.

Breaking News Eduinsite:My Result Out!

Monash University has released August intake 2010 result for the unit MKW1120 and AFW1000 for the August intake students including this blogger!
1st to be released is MKW1120, which was released on Thursday, 2nd December 2010, 1 day ahead of the stated result release date. Hmm, pretty efficient ah my tutor, Miss Nora mark the papers! Shall I say unfortunately or fortunately that I only got 65 or a credit which is a 'little' bit lower than my expectation! A closer look at the papers just now, shows that my 40% essay was not done well and that pulled down my marks! What surprises me is people who said they didnt managed to finish all of the papers got higher than those who finished completely the papers. This beg for an research undertaken to see the rationale, LOL! just joking
Everyone was very curious why AFW1000 results wasnt released together with MKW1120. Some very speculative students state that perhaps 'Dr Lee lost the papers'. OMG If that is true Im not going to resit the papers! Apparently, it stays as a joke as the result was released 1hr ago! I did this paper better with me getting HD or 85 marks! Its within my expectation
Before, I end my special breaking news regarding my results. Congrats to all who have gotten HD,D, while those who got C and P dont worry there are more chances for you to get D,HD albeit hard work is required! Those who got lower than P, dont despair, perhaps your tutor could help you if you go and discussed with them, but I think there is no failures or there are a couple!
Aim for the highest, its not impossible, 90% hardwork, with 10% will do the trick.
Signing off!

YES 4G have a shaky start with them having DOS attacks as they claimed, YES ID cant be signed in, website is too flashy, website is too plain, blablabla and the list still goes on!
However, whether this is expected or unexpected by users, they 'apologised' with 10GB FREE data valid til 19 Dec! With a note that was signed by its CEO, Wing K Lee. This was well received by users including me
Not only that, there is a blogger that keeps on attacking/condemning YES thru his writings in his blog for I dont know what reasons.Perhaps YES decision to brand itself 4G instead of Wimax, and a whole range of reasons!
I also have a fair share of my problems with YES. When registering/buying the Go! dongle, a sales team tell me pay RM$149 inclusive of RM$50 activation fi, but when I pay at the counter I was told its only RM$99 as RM$50 will be deducted from the FREE RM$100 credit that will be credited RM$10/month for 5 months. However, the question is how about people that pay RM$149, will they get full RM$100 credit or only RM$50? That is a question that YES must answer to its subscribers! And there is a lot of miscommunication in this issue.
Another problem that I face is with my YESlife, they claimed they had problems with Windows Vista running the problem and I had to wait for the new updated version of YESlife for it to be solved!
And with YEs, I became pro in calculation as I had to manually calculated every MB of my usage since the YES page isnt very helpful. But they are aware of this problem.
Now all those above are 'celefe' (supporting items), the main course is the speed! I must say YES had given me the most impressive speed that I had seen on mobile broadband. With 1 bar I can even reach almost 2mBps and with 4 bar the max I can reach is almost 11 mBps! Average I can get 4-5 mBps and upload 1.4 mBps! The upload speed is also very impressive between 400 up to 2.3 mBps! The real test that I had 'stress tested' the YES network is streaming LIVE for 6h the Mnet Asian Music Award from the red carpet up til the end! And it works flawless with a little short buffering only some of the times!
Now for those interested to get YES here are some basic info
Charge: Just like electricity Pay As You Use 9sen/3MB/SMS/min! Charging block is per MB! Min usage is RM30/month. People are complaining this as it advertises itself as pay for what you use only but there is this min usage clause! However for heavy users you get rebate use 2.5GB get RM9 rebate, use 3GB RM$23, and more than 4GB every GB you use get RM9 rebate! Definitely not suitable for bandwidth hoggers such as PPS and P2P that could eat up to tens of GB that would costs hundreds with YES instead of berpuluh or max 200-300 with Unifi, mobile broadband, Time fibre, etc!
Contract: Tada, You dont like the service just dUMP it!
Cap: No! Use as you please
Device from RM$99 (Go!)-RM$599 (4G phone). However I heard from my cousin who studies in a YES EPP program institution, they will get special pricing for the device!
Speed: 3-5X speed of 3G. No definite speed! But assuming, people wont bandhog the network speed should be good!
LaSTLY, Amazing Things Happen When You Say YES! YES gives you mobility, value and experience you have never imagined!

Plain Crap Feature:Cards Cards Cards

Have you ever wondered why some people got up to 30 cards in their wallets. (how did they fit the cards in the wallet is another question). Have you ever wondered why people end up crying every month over their cards? Have you wondered why some people hate cards and dont have any cards in their wallets with exception of the 'must carry' card that include IC, driving license & ATM card perhaps.
Before I carry on let me, share with you what cards do I have in my wallet aside from IC and my just obtained 'L' driving license! However I dont keep all my cards in my wallet at all times since it cant fit all of them
1. Robinsons Card - You may think oh this guy is rich. Why? Robinsons is located in The Gardens Mid Valley, 1 of the high-end mall in Klang Valley. Well I can tell you, Robinsons isnt really a really high class department store, but I say its a mid priced high end dept store, or in other words higher class than Parkson and JUSCO. Dont expect to find a RM20 T-shirt here or maybe you can in sale period, LOL! Why did I apply for it? Why its FREE, and I am sure I am a going to be a long term customer of Robinsons since it is the ONLY place in Malaysia that carries Basic House Co, Korea brands such as Basic House & The Class. So far from this card, I have earned quite a lot of benefits: getting RM$10 voucher for accumulated spending of about RM$200+ from August-September, 10% discount and RM$10 voucher in Robinsons Xmas Cardmember preview sale. and they have a lot of these close-door activities only for members.
2. Times Privilege Card - I applied for this in KK thinking that I have 100% chance of going to NUS/NTU/SMU in Singapore to study, unfortunately its turns out to be NO! So this card is a waste of RM$15 fi? Not quite since after applying they give you a 20% welcome voucher and there is a Times in Pavilion, quite far though but still worth it!
3. Public Bank Day2Day Visa Debit card - This card was given to me when I opened an account in Public Bank. Its a 2-in-1 card, ATM & debit card. In addition it offers 0.3-0.8% cashback on every RM$1 swiped, not bad since you are paying from your own A/c.
4. Sunway University College Resident Card - I have no idea why they still need this card identification system. Anyway its required when I want to claim a parcel from hostel office
5. Jcard - Have to pay RM$12 yr but its really worth it considering that JUSCO have Jcard Member Day so oftenly offering 15% on all things in dept store, and 5% in supermarket even on Gardenia rotis that price already fixed. And you can use it outside JUSCO too!
6. Monash Student ID: A card to topup printing credit, open doors, borrow books, printing & photocopy use!
7. KFC Snax: A card to get points in KFC, LOL! And its FREE too
8. SAKAE Card: Froggie is the reason I apply for this card, erm not refering to the IA Frog, LOL! Cost RM$20, but its worthiness I had yet to be seen
9. Popular Student card: RM$10/2 yr. Can use in Popular in Malaysia, Singapore & HK also CD-RAMA. Since I frequently visit Popular its worth it
10. Worldcard: Its FREE! However since Im 'under-aged' I only got White instead of Green card that allows me to gain points in casino LOL! And without green card I cant even get the FREE goodies eg angpau & calendar! Urgh so much distinction! Used majorly in Genting and also in some outlets!
11. CIMB Bank ATM card:Given to me when I opened a airAsia savers a/c. cost rm8/yr!
12. Watsons Membership Card: Cost RM$12 for your lifetime really worth it! And you get a whole lot bunch of vouchers worth RM$200+ for you to use! So far I only use RM$3 of the voucher. Even better you can use your points to pay up till the last cent eg to offset RM1.1 from bil need 220 points or 2point=1 sen!
13. Bonuslink: Another FREE card that I mainly use in Parkson and Shell for my dad petrol and also Caring!
14. Sunway Pyramid Privilege Card: Got this card after I download the Pyramid app to my phone. so far I only used it for NZ Natural Ice cream get 10% off!
See how 'kiasu' I am 14 cards  I have from different various brands for different purposes:some for point accumulation, some point + rebate, some discount+point+rebate, etc! You may ask is it worth it paying so much for these card annual fees! Well ATM cards you cant do without it so its worth it but I think my SAKAEcard & Times card is not really worth it!
Break a bit and I shall continue with 2nd part of the post on facts and figures! I am sure some of you will be jaw dropping how come a uni guy have so much card! Usually its 'auntie' that have these cards, LOL!

In my intro, I wrote about people crying over their cards at the end of the month. Why?
I have seen an episode of a teenage drama forget what is the name already. This guy goes into the internet and search for FREE, and he entered his dad credit card number in one of the sites. However, entah kenapa maybe the internet 'siao', suddenly every site charges to his dad credit card up to millions of dollars. However, lucky for this guy, he had a 'computer geek' friend that helped him to sort out this problem and prevents him from getting 'killed' by his dad!
Credit card is 'cool' and 'must have'! However, if you dont control your hands from swiping, haha! Now comes the problem, end of the month you will be getting very thick credit card statement or maybe long e-statement now! Sure if you got no money to pay in full, you can pay only RM$50 or 5% but mind you there is a 18% interest on outstanding amount. And this piles up, till the point of no return, people declare bankrupt mostly young people! Now, the government comes into the picture with AKPK helping to renegotiate your payments with your card issuer, and in 2010 Budget Malaysia govt introduces RM50/RM25 service tax on credit card. As a result, people rushed to 'POTONG' their credit card! But those still terikat with paying their dues on credit card, have to bare with repayments + tax! But is it working? Well according to a The Sun article, credit card numbers decreased by about 18%! And still billions is outstanding amounts! Judge for yourself
And lets go to see how Brunei goes about with their June enforced credit card directive. Minimum payment is raised from 5% to 8%, if you want to have a credit card from a bank, you need to have an account with that bank. Those with outstanding balances will have problems too and in Brunei the outstanding amount is also in the billions!
Well, not only credit card holders are having problem but also debit card holders like me. Sure you cant overspend, but the problem starts when you lost your debit card and didnt realise it. Yes, the 'thief' cant use it in any place that needs signature, unless your singature is too easy too copy! They can use it in petrol kiosks where no signature is required, and pump as much oil they want. Even more problems will come if that thief use it to buy petrol and sell the petrol to outsiders to industries! This is already an offence of misuse of subsidy! Even though you are not the one commiting the crime, you could be charged for 'kesalahan bersubahat' since the card name is yours! So better keep a good check on where about is your card! You dont want your 'kelalaian' to end with police knocking at your doors! You can block the card usage if you realise your card is hilang early, but if you realise it too late perhaps tens of thousands have been swiped and you will CRY!
In a The Nut Graph article written by a YB, he claimed that he have more than 30+ credit cards of which I think he already potong most of it due to the tax! Each of the card has its own benefits so you want more benefits apply all cards provided you can afford it!
While people are enjoying 'credit card lifestyle' there are also people who dont have any! There is dangers in this;they could be carrrying a huge piles of cash which is an easy target for robbers! But some people dont have any credit card as they feared they will forget to pay every month and accumulate the amount!

Well, there you have it my views on Cards, Cards, Cards! Credit card is good if you know how to use it (I dont mean know which shop can swipe but I mean prudence), debit card is as good as cash while other discount privilege card is only worth it if you patronise the store oftenly! Its the SALE season so I am assuming a lot of plastics money are transacted so HAPPY SHOPPING & CARDING just dont CRY at the end of the month! LOL!

P.S. This blogger may not want to apply for credit card when he works even though its more widely accepted that debit card which is rather a sad reality!

Events:PWH Music Awards 2010 part 2

Morning people, since Blogger uploader wont co-operate with me in completing this posting I gotta open another new post. Sorry as some of the picture quality is VERY bad as I got bad angling, slow hands and freaky camera phone! And even worst my battery flat out after 1.5h into the show, leaving most of the award not able to be photographed. Terribly sorry no more pictures can be uploaded I also dont know why. Ok lets talk a bit about the awards

Events:PWH Music Awards 2010

Sponsors placements:Main:Magnum Got Magnum Got Surprise Got Excitement, Station 1 Cafe, Halo Cafe, etc

Host of the nite: Chubby Vivian from My FM, Li Chiang (correct) from Ai FM, Mei Che (coreect?) from 988, Nicholas from One FM and Siow Hui Min from Astro

An enjoyable 4hour night up 2000m above sea level away from the hustle and bustle of the cities, in Resorts World Genting or Genting Highlands Resort or Genting or Genting City of Entertainment, or whatever name you call it. PWH Music Awards 2010 was held successfully on 27th November at Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands. It is an award to recognise the success of Malaysian artists whether you are international superstar, local superstar, reality show superstar, or indie band/singer. This award which have been held for the past 22 years and this year is its 11th edition is organised by PWH or Persatuan Wartawan Hiburan Wilayah Persekutuan. Oh yes, it telecasted live over Astro AEC 301 while the last edition in 2008 it was telecasted by Jia Yu for the red carpet & award while this year award only telecasted is it?
Ticketing
This is a FREE award however you have to 'hunt' for the tickets. How? Participate in contests organised by partner stations such as One FM, Ai FM, 988 or buy magazines such as e-pop and exchange for 4 ticket voucher for each coupon. However, those given by the stated above radio stations are better since its VIP seats while those obtained from e-pop are normal seats.

Mr Sam Goh Zi or San Ge Zi, Lin Kah Chun being interviewed
The host hard at work
Then, before the show you have to exchange your ticket vouchers for numbered tickets, if you are later you will get standing tickets only. Even though exchange starts at 12pm, I noticed that there were a lot of people already in front of me at around 10+. Ticket exchange is fast & simple 'give vouchers, get tickets'!
Red Carpet
Tong Yu Zhe Wo Men Ai Nie (Thomas Jack We Love You)
Before I reach Arena of Stars, due to 'lost' direction, I end up in Theme Park Hotel. And I saw some artists such as Thomas Jack and Manhand getting to ready to get into a bus to go to the red carpet event. When I reach Arena of Stars, there were already lots of fans of Thomas Jack & and also fans of other artists. Then, when the bus came people start shouting 'Hao Ren'! 'Kah Chun' and getting nearer to bus to get a good snap (too bad I got a bad snap). The host of the Red Carpet are artists 1 of them is John while another person cant remember his name. Sorry for the messy photo arrangement structure, blame the new uploader LOL! So sorry its in a BIG mess, to be continued soon!
I dont know if you can see clearly but thats Choo Hao Ren (in suit)

There another picture of fans of Thomas Jack

Lots of people waiting for Red Carpet & gate to open. There is 2 gate 1 for zone E-I tickets and another gate for zone A-D tickets

New changes

Helo there fellow followers, my friends, people who know me, blog readers and whoever have visited my blog. Over the last few months, certainly you can see some differences in blogposting right? There are more pictures rather than all words that makes people to go to sleep.
Certainly this blog will not be stagnant in its content development and basic design since I know no CSS or whatsoever related to it.
Over the weekend, I was away from the civilisation i.e. no line for mobile, internet,wi-fi and of course 4G erm Wimax. And I was having a think on what to blog for this week. After having a thought on the topics of the week, which will precede after this posting. I also thought that this blog is kinda messy i.e. pictures not in order (blame the new uploader), posting without a proper category, etc.
So, I will introduce categories name such as Kaleidoscope which will bring you down memory lane to remember what had happen in the past and also remind me of what I did in the past. Events on the other hand will be about events, exhibitions, open house that I attended the latest being the PWH Music Awards 2010 which I will write a post on it soon. Travel on the other hand will be about my travel experiences in Malaysia, 2nd home Brunei, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand & Australia. Education will be about my exams, lectures, projects, assignments rambling. Lastly, Plain Crap will be my thoughts on various issues and plain 'kopitiam' talk!
In conclusion, this blog will continue to evolve and grow. Even though we cant influence major decisions, with this blog its hoped that some of the posting will be beneficial for your life, decision-making and maybe put a smile on your face. As people say when life give you lemons get an orange LOL!

Say YES to YES & more things

YES '4G' has been launched with much fanfare on Friday 19 November 2010. However hours after its launch, it receives more bad publicity of people wanting to say 'NO' to YES, rather than people say 'Im amazed by YES'! Alright, my YES experience also didnt have a great start but lets enjoy the pictures 1st later I shall explain more later!

My review of YES:
So far I would say I have been amazed as I have said YES! Speed average 1-2 mbps download upload 300-600 kbps! Or to put in perspective Youtube no buffer at all!
However, Im a bit sad about not able to use YESlife! And no able to check my usage so I gotta do my mental calculation!
The fact that I live in 14th floor do affect the strength of my YES network as I only get 1-2 bar most of the time. So I really hope YES can improve on this

Well I guess thats it for this posting and this posting is not being sponsored by YES! Its a personal opinion from Yours Truly!
