Flood again

Today, the last day of January 2009, I have witness 3 flood in my life.
1.natural disaster flood- The roads especially near BSP ones are badly submerged, while the bypass is flooded with so many cars aka traffic jam.
2.Maths flood - today's maths lesson you know what I am totally BLUR! As a result, as of now I am still solving h/w questions, I think I may have to do OT tonight.
3. People flood- Today is the judgement day for students taking O, AS, A level exams as statement of results will be given out at their respective schools. For those who loiter around, excessive dating, etc last year, if you flung its your fault or maybe partly its because the paper is tough. Well thats it & back to drawing board for me as teachers inspire us to perform even better.

SMSA bytes all about SMSA in 2 min

The latest issue of The SMSA Times will be out soon. Its main theme would be CNY if I am right, so please correct me if I am wrong. Nice cover though, kudos to SMSA Times editorial board & Mr Photoshop.
Last Wednesday, 4th February 2009, the Career Unit of SMSA had organised a trip to the British Council Education UK fair held in Songket Ballroom, The Rizqun International Hotel. It was participated by more than 80 students. According to some feedbacks, that I have received, some say its boring, some say its fun. This depends on your own future plannings, right?
On the 12th of March, a trip to Arts & Handicraft centre as well as Kingston factory was held. There were many big processing machines, 1 freezer @ -25C. Kesejukkan tu eh! Nyaman kali ah ada free ice-cream, Pepsi, fruit tea. Ada yg leftoverkah? Today, 24th February 2009, 1 day after Brunei's glorious 25th National Day, a motivation talk was held for Pre-U2 students. It was organised by SMSA Councelling Unit teacher, Cikgu Suzi and moderated by Dr Ee Ah Meng, a councellor from Bahagian Kerjaya & Bimbingan Bakat Kerja, MOE. He was also a frequent guest on Pelangi FM Motivasi segment, aired every Thursday from 9pm-10.30pm. His talk titled Pelajar Bermotivasi, Pelajar Cemerlang. This 2h 30min talk is informative with the Dr, talking about SQ3R, facts of life, and a pushup activity which was won by Nabil of PreU2/Sc3or5 with 69 pushups instead of his targeted 10. When, the talk conclude, Dr Ee offered his best-selling book at $2 off RRP. PreU1 will be starting on 2nd March 2009, with a 3 day orientation, then its back to business for PreU students. I cant devulge much info on the orientation activities, but last year, we have many creative activities, treasure hunt, talent show. This year, there may be surprises maybe a pertandingan makan cream, main guli, makan kuih... I dont know just wait! On behalf of PreU2 students, I welcomed all new PreU1 students, hope that you have an enjoyable time during your 2 yr duration in SMSA. Today, 4th March 2009, marks the end of 2009 SMSA Orientation, and also the fruit of days of hard-work of AJK & MPP. One of the activity that caught my attention is SMSA very own Explorace with the Punisher in play. Some of the activities include musical chair, Raja Bual & Lawak SMSA, fashion show, etc. According to official sources & notice, SMSA will be the host of National English Debate competition. The topics may sound comical, This House Believes That Goldilocks wanders into the woods at her own will. Perhaps, papa bear, mama bear & baby bear whose porridge was eaten by her will be the judge? Dont know just wait!SMSA will be fighting against MD, which is considered debate powerhouse. No fret, warga SMSA, if last time SMS can win MD in the quarter final of Bahas Melayu, why cant SMSA do it? If you think you can, you can! Oh, maybe 6th form classes would be used for this purpose & many CLASS CANCELLED in April for a week. On 18th March, SMSA in co-operation with a bookseller had organised a small bookfair at the hall. It was open to all staff, students & parents from 8am to 3pm. Apparently, it received a lukewarm response. Here is my 2 cents worth, the goods are expensive. This is one of the programme under home-reading.

Best in AS level

In an RTB news report, I heard that a few students achieve an A grade for both subjects they are taking. I wonder who they are, could it be a student from SMSA or somewhere else? This question has yet to be answered thanks to the new system of SMS instant result. Congrats to all who have passed in AS level, A level and may you make SMSA and Brunei proud by attaining Top in Brunei or even Top in the world status!
Update @ 6.45am - A Level 7 attained grade A in 4 subjects, 7 also attained grade A in 3 subjects, 8 attained grade A in 2 subjects. One more thing St. Angela's also attained 100% pass for THE FIRST TIME! Congrats all

Analysis of this year result annoucement system

Frustrations is on the rise as I scour blogs and sites for November 2008 O, AS, A results. Many of the students are annoyed, angry about this new system of SMS. Some students claimed that they have got their results and for the some other schools ones, but refused to post or link it citing its a rahsia kerajaan Brunei. As for me, I am still eager to have a look at the results and still waiting! I wonder if next year, this new SMS system will be upgraded or MOE portal will be posting the results in pdf format for all to download. I think Singapore have a better system because they inform in advance when the results are going to be out in mainstream media. Right, back to the new SMS system, many complained about the high charges of $3, I think this charge is reasonable, if students are able to MSN everyday until their credit abis in a matter of days! However, on the other hand, I am also pitying those who are from keluarga kurang berkemampuan, as $3 could mean a meal for them. This is a point for relevant authorities to thnk about. In conclusion, everyone benefits from this new system, MOE untung, private sector untung, student don't get full use of technology i.e. internet and forced to pay $3! This is a private-public partnership
