Money and Life

When you have money, everything is within reach. (Well not everything but almost everything)

I usually DONT BUY any branded goods or if those marketer prefer to use the term 'affordable luxury'! However, since Club21 clearance sale I have slowly 'upgrading' my wardrobe. Gone are the days of Diesel, BUM, Cheetah LOL! Now its FCUK,Quiksilver,AX,Superdry

2 weeks ago, Chadstone vip sale which was very much anticipated as it brings about huge discounts on almost all stores in Chadstone. I spend almost $400 that day the good that I buy are:
2 Guess T-shirt for $40 (after 50% disc), and trust me the q was long, but luckily went i went there, the q was bearable
1 Superdry hoodie and T (after 30% disc) for $112. Superdry T-shirt in Malaysia are retailed at a ridiculous rm$180 each, and I just got em after conversion of 3.3 at rm$116. More costly than what a T-shirt should cost!Even the non sale price of $165 is still slightly cheaper than Msia
1 FCUK short pants for $47. I have trouble finding pants to fit my small waist LOL!But luckily I spotted this!
1 Armani Exchange T for $35. I just buy for the sake of the brand LOL!
1 pair of laceless Onitsuka Tiger Mexico for $104

Freaking long shopping receipt right? I can afford to spend this much thanks to a few factors. I found $50 in campus centre, nobody came to claim it and I can claim it! Won $80 from Crown playing pokies (my biggest win ever). If i didnt earn this much xtra $ I wouldnt have spend this much

Few days ago I rewarded myself for earning a big bucks from CFD trading (risky but rewarding) by buying a CK slingbag for $140 (after 60% disc). My earnings was around 300+, I think it was a risky move but the market decided to move in favour of me! So far I have earned $400+ from CFD,despite suffering several huge losses in some of my trades!

Oh and did I say that I just changed my phone to HTC One X thanks to a good upgrade deal from my telco Vodafone!

You might think that my spending are crazy but wait till you listen to some of my other friends buys and excursions around the world. They can afford that since they are sons/daughter of a businessman, while Im just a son of a 6-6 worker!

As a chinese saying 'same people different fate/luck'. With this I end my posting, Selamat Hari Guru to my teachers in Brunei who have taught me since Primary 1 up till Pre U level. Thanks cikgu semua

Cheers have a great time ahead!

Adding up weight

Hey hows it going,hi people. Its been rather busy months and weeks and finally I got some 'breathing space' to blog a bit.

Dont know if its amazing or not to you,but I think that its an amazing thing that I finally hit the 50kg threshold!. The last time I breach the 50kg threshold was way back in 2010, when Im on a cruising trip with 5 meals a day LOL, it went up to 52kg!  Lets hope that I can maintain this momentum of gradual weight increase to an ideal level, with more eating and constant working out in gym!

Right let me get on the main point, more eateries that I have visited and my comments on it
Went to Springvale with friends for dim sum yesterday at Goldleaf. This restaurant got quite a few branches so google em out if you want to try em. The bill came up to $184 for 7 people with char siao bao, sharkfin gao, hargao, siew mai, meatballs, roast duck, mixed charsiew siewyok, fried calamari, eggtart, tripe, chicken feet, err and what else I forget the list is too long! I personally think the portions are huge and the eggtarts are nice

Dollar for dollar comparison its quite reasonable.I dont think you can eat this much of stuff in Msia with $185 for 7 people!

On Friday nite, went to Bistro Vue to celebrate Tyler birthday. Its a French inspired 'finedining restaurant'. Ordered veal and sadly it doesnt taste like veal, more like schitnzels!I thot it would taste like ginger venison but i was wrong!

Some other eateries that I have tried are
Claypot King - normal chinese style food.1st claypot meal in melbourne and a proper watercress soup!
Petaling Street - ate the whole fish with rice
Papparich - Papparich in Ausssie is doing roaring biz.sometimes need to q for 30min just to get a place!
Shark fin house - one of better chinese restaurant around.went for dimsum, fare slightly worst off than goldleaf
Sichuan house - freaking spicy but luckily still tolerable for me!
Auction room - breaky place.tried Halamari tea, quite special taste.ate bacon with toast and egg
Ping's dumpling - normal chinese food.recommended in Student guidebook.portions huge, but bad luck for me the seafood chow mein only got fishcake, prawns, fishball (not a single sight of sotong or fish!)
Stalactites - Greek restaurant. pita bread, roast chicken
Yami Yami Korean Restuarant - korean food, bulgogi was so so!
Birdman - breaky place
Seng Hing - normal chinese food in caulfield
Proud Mary -breakie place, the list of tea was wow!
Noodle Kingdom - another dumpling and noodle place
San Churro- famous for churros and chocolate. the chocolate was very kaw.around $13+
Pacific BBQ - charsiew siewyok roast chicken
Monga Sweet Cafe - hk style cafe
Menya Ramen - eel fried rice
Nasi Lemak House - finally found a more proper pan mien than Jalan alor one.a bit far near melbourne uni! comes with a bowl of soup, that way I like it(but no sayur manis lol)
Hudadak Korean BBQ - fried chicken

Most of these eateries are considered 'Cheap Eats', with exception of the dimsum joint:Sharkfin and Goldleaf! A meal less than $20 or around $15 is considered reasonable!

I have to thank my friends for bringing me to taste so many types of food in different restaurant, and intro me to breaky!

In my next blogposting, Im going to blog about some of the happenings and some of the 'luxuries' that I started to buy LOL!

See ya,and have a nice day!

Melbourne so far

Hey hows it going? (This is Melbourne/Australia way to say hi/helo/how are you). For this posting Im just going to put up a spoiler on what to expect (not in the mood to blog but feel like typing something)

Looking at the list of eateries that I had gone to in only about 2wk of my time in Melbourne, it is going to create a 'dent in my pocket' as well as adding up much required body weight! So I shall talk a bit about each eateries. BTW all of this are rated as 'Cheap Eats'

1. Manchester Press - Its located at some sort of small lorong/alleyway in city. And mind you that you have to wait quite a while out in the cold for your turn to go inside,as the place is quite small. I had the smoked salmon served on poppy seed bread ($13), pretty generous with the salmon pieces!

2. Kokoro Ramen - This is a ramen shop, and I had the pork belly miso ramen ($15.50). Taste pretty good

3. Hardware society - This is located near Manchester Press. Had the chix breast with err something white (perhaps mashed potato with garlic blend?) ($18)

4. Crazy Wings - $2 per stick of chix wings with different flavours, if you can handle the 'hotness', try 'Crazy Wings' flavour. Other BBQ sticks such as pork belly, chix part, scallops also available

5. Jalan Alor melbourne (dont worry KL jalan alor havent moved yet lol) - After googling for some time, finally found some place that sells pan mee, my favourite mee when i was living in KL. Very pricy by Malaysian standard, but ok by Melbourne standard $10! Taste erm, ok but would be nicer if they had a bowl of soup

6. Rose Garden - 1 of the more popular Malaysian/Chinese food restaurants. Only try the top 10, as sources said the other menus was only ok!

7. IKEA Restaurant - About 40min walk from Monash Clayton, or a 10min bus ride + some walk, is IKEA Springvale. As usual meatball served with mashed (not fries like in Malaysia) $4.25 for 10 meatballs, and you can get free hot drink if you had IKEA Family card which is FREE to apply! Also, 1 of the cheapest makan place around if you dont mind the 40min walk!

Last but not least, if you want Starbucks in Melbourne sadly there are only 3 outlets as there are tons of other cafes selling Italian premium coffees!

Later days folks, this sem is going to be crazey!

p.S. I also wish to convey the message 'Selamat berpuasa, selamat menunaikan ibadah puasa dalam bulan ramadan to all Muslims especially to my friends n people that I know' Semoga ibadat anda semua diterima oleh Allah SWT!

2 RBA Flight Review: KL-Brunei,Brunei-Melbourne

While listening to my favourite radio show, 988 Night since I was living in Sunway 2 years ago, I shall continue to write another blogpost. Albeit the 2 hour time difference, I am still able to listen to the radio show since my 'body clock' is still not very adjusted to sleep according to Melbourne time!

I returned back to Brunei on 30th June, flying with Royal Brunei. The fare was just slightly above Air Asia fare, so it was a very obvious choice. A very quick review on the flight. It seems that cost-cutting is in progress or maybe not, maybe Im unlucky. All Borneo Bulletin copies are snapped up, so I had to settle with a copy of Brunei Times. The meal was pretty nice, Hainanese chix rice complete with the chilli n soya sauce condiments. Not as fragrant as SQ ones, since RBA have this concept of 'Food Fit to fly by' or in easier to understand terms healthy food with less salt. And surprisingly, metal cutlery is back!Oh BTW did I mention that my baggage was overweight by a staggering 17kg so I end up paying more than RM$200!

On the other hand, the flight to Melbourne was not what I had expected from RBA. Perhaps its an overlook due to full flight? I wrote a rather long email to RBA and got a even longer reply from them. The same thing happen again, with all Bulletin copies snapped up! However, the meal was a little less desirable. Luckily, the meal tray was larger with more contents (cheese and cracker). My meal was fried rice with beef was ok. The meal wasnt warm enough and surprisingly or maybe not plastic cutlery is being used. The cabin crew did many rounds to check on the passengers, but since I couldnt open my mouth as they pass, I pressed on the call button instead. Surprisingly, I had to press 2 times to get their attention. When its almost time to descend, some snacks of Oreo and peanut butter biscuits was being offered with a choice of drinks. Next up, the poor lady beside me had to endure with a broken PTV for the whole flight. Surprisingly, the PTV fired up during descend!

If travellers happen to read this RBA is not a bad airline. Its customer engagement thru social network such as Twitter is very good as far as Im concerned. I get many issues settled this way! The crews are attentive and sometimes they can be found always smiling throughout the flight. Lets hope that things would be better for RBA when they get their Dreamliner 787 soon!

Im still not up to the mark

Its 3 minutes past midnight in Melbourne, and here I am writing this blogpost, coz there are simply not much to do at night here.

As I have blogged in my last posting, that I had taken a driving test. The result as you can expect is I FAILED. However, I take it as a good learning experience. Failure will make me strive harder in achieving a reasonable standard to be able to get my P license and drive on the road.

The 1st part of the test is slope. Even before, starting, I already feels that something is 'tak kena'! Initially, I managed to go up the slope up till the required point. And the JPJ lady already give a go ahead to go down the slope. However, since I FORGET to apply the handbrakes when stopping, the car reverses a bit of the mark. And the end of my slope test

The next part was on the road. I did very miserably in this only managed to get the points for the 'pre-driving checks'. It seems that my reaction time is very slow, somemore the car used was a Viva, which I never practiced on before! The test stopped half-way, as the tester feels that I am driving quite dangerously! At the end, I could sense that there is some attempt to get some 'kopi money' from me, and the lady tester called someone who I assume was her boss, whether or not to ask for kopi!

Its still going to be a long journey for me, in my quest of obtaining a license to drive!

Im finally going overseas!

From the post title, you might think that Im finally going overseas for the 1st time! Well no, coz I have been to Singapore,Thailand,Taiwan,China(Pearl River Delta area),hongkong, macau and Australia. The between the line here is I am finally going overseas to further my studies. Hip Hip Horray!

The bad news is just a tiny-weeny stumbling block, securing a student visa! I have been 'kicked' from 1 health centre to another coz DIAC thinks that being underweight (46.2kg) is 'something sinister'(this quote is used by the doctor). I have spend 4X than what Im supposed to pay(210), no thanks to further tests(echo, consultation with gastroentrologist, thyroid test),before my health is given clean bill of health by Australia embassy panel doctors but still have to wait for DIAC 'Commonwealth Doctors' to ok the report!

Since there is no way of buying an airticket before visa is issued, Im worried there wont be any seats left on the flight, as the wait for the visa continues airfare continues to shoot up in price but decrease in supply.

Next problem is how to stuff 'necessary things' into 35kg of check-in luggage, and not end up the things getting confiscated by Customs, as seen on Border's Security on Crime n Investigation Channel. I have been to Australia err 5 years ago,and my experience was pleasant with the Customs.

Next how to adapt to life in Melbourne without comparing prices lol. This n that etc etc

With that,I see you in next posting.2morrow is my 2nd last driving lesson.Wish me luck n bless me lol!

Im 21!

This will be a series of a few posting to update you, blog readers out there about my life for the past 2 months.
1st up, Im 21! Yes at a legal age to enter Genting casino without being chased away, enter club, visit certain websites (kirai kirai)
Im turning older (*bad news*)
This year birthday celebration as much as possible as I wanted it to be grand, happens to end up as a subdued event due to certain reasons, mainly exam and assignment is just around the corner (my birthday is end of May,exam starts early June)
Anyway wish to thank all of those who greeted me on Facebook and thanks for the delicious cake

FUN aside, the age of 21 is the starting point to start thinking about the future(job, family *that includes finding a girlfriend/risk assessment whether that girl or other girl is more suitable as life partner*)
A year older might not be a year wiser,a year older might means you are more excited to try new things (including sort of illegal/risky, adventurous stuff)? This is the point that I and many others who are already 21 or turning 21 should ponder about.

Lastly, age of 21 is also minimum voting age.It means that you can have your voice heard through the 'pollbox' or rather the 'cross mark on a paper'. If you havent registered as voter (Yours Truly included), go do it ASAP.
1 vote could maybe change the entire nation and not only your life!

More posting coming up.Cheers good nite
